Cheers mate. I caught them at around 2pm from north curly at the highest point of the wall, you know, the bit that makes it near on impossible to pull a fish out during low tide haha. And yea mate it took a good chunk of line and really darted hard and fast in to snags and the wall i was fishing on as it came in. Thrashed like all hell. Was definitely my highlight this month. Never been there myself. I don't own or know anyone with a boat. I was using 5lb and a 2500 sahara for that bonie. Great fun.

G'day. I've been using a 2500 finesse fishing reel to spin with out in the big drink and it's rapidly deteriorating. It's gone from silky smooth to clunky and draggy even after multiple services and maintenance. It was a reel meant for quiet Freshwater bass trips and to cut it short I've thrashed the absolute shit out of it over the past few weeks. So it's time to put a few bucks down on something more appropriate. I only really want to spend $200 at this point. I'm asking the forum because I don't really know much about the salty side of fishing. Bearing in mind I'll only ever be land based, these are the things I'd like to be able to do: Spin for large sports-fish off the rocks (lots of this). ie Kingies, Tuna etc.... Have a flick at the beach, without needing a massive beach rod. I'm told this is possible? Something that will cast a country mile without being to tippy, but also not to stiff. Nothing under 9", I've got plenty of them. Am i better off just getting a second hand rig or is there something I can do with 200-220? Advice appreciated.

Blacktown boy? just moved from there myself. Fishing for Bonnies is a no brainer mate, just flick Raiders off the edge and spin in hard and fast for as long as it takes. Occasionally let am re-sink on the retrieve to stir things up. Persistence and patience is all it really is bud. I'll happily stand somewhere for 6 hours and cast with no hits, so it depends how long you're willing to tough it out. I also use light gear so I don't get too tired, and use the swell to land the fish. - I also find fishing with light gear more challenging and fun, as oppose to skull-dragging them where the fish have zero chance. I was lucky yesterday, today was a massive donut.

G'day. First report here. Might start with a few from yesty. Using a 6'6 graphite rod with 5lb line and 12lb leader. Reel was a Shimano Sahara 2500. Lure was a 20lb Raider. Was getting gnarly with bare feet and the tide coming up so called it a day.

I'll probably head there in the next halfa just by myself. Keen on a flick? Btw mate I was saying above don't bother with the soft plastics at Narrabeen at the moment. Won't do too well. That Leatherjacket was 38cm (but a fatty) and the flounder was smallish but a few cm over legal. Was a good feed anyway!

G'day! Name's Tony. I enjoy a good Freshwaster flick more than anything else, quiet kayaking for Bass would be up there. Recently lots of saltwater action due to winter. Still deciding weather I'm as much a fan (land locked) but it doesn't stop me hitting up the Sydney harbour borders daily. Say g'day if you see me out there. Good on ya.

G'day. I've been hitting the lakes the last few days also. A lot of areas are proving quiet, with others just shutting down altogether. I've had varied success at the front of the caravan park in north Narrabeen using prawns but the fish are far apart there regardless. I'd almost say not worth the chill unless a few smaller flatties and bream are you cuppa. You never know, though! Also; Soft plastics in the lake at this time of year will prove a mostly futile ambition as the fish tend to take them territorially in summer when they are more active, whereas in the cold a solid & definitive feed is really the more productive way to go them. Squid, prawns etc are your better bet. Yesterday I had a great deal of smiles at 40 baskets beach right at the end of the jetty, and will be heading there tomorrow with my mrs and little brother (weather permitting). See how you go anyway mate. I'd be inclined to give the lakes a rain check at the moment, most will say the same.
