thanks for the replies scotty, yeah figured that's why they were blowing them up on a regular basis but there are also people out there with the 5000/6000 sizes melting drags with 15-20kg jews still have really mixed feelings about the reel ...

It's almost been a year since these reels were released ... I have been searching all over google for a review but can't seem to get anything solid. There have been comments made here and there but a good solid write up from someone whom has put the reel through its paces is nowhere to be seen. I have been on popping websites that have shown horrific pictures of the 18000's with snapped reel legs and stories of under-performing drags and even side-plates falling off after a few weeks. To be fair this is coming from blokes who flog these reels at 40+ kilos of angry GT's ... and the list of casualties include the Z6000GT saltigas aswell. There have been numerous threads and posts by raiders already recommending it, but still no real review of the reel ... and it seems a fair few own the reel aswell. So what I am asking those whom have and still own a Saragosa, is that ... How long have you had it for and how often does it get used? What type of work has your reel seen? jigging/popping/livebaiting etc. Has the drag held up? Any line lay problems? Cosmetic problems? Any other problems? Are you happy with it? I am looking to get one for a pure popping setup, probably twice a week on some 15-25kg GTs running 80lb braid ... the Saragosa will most probably be able to handle it no worries ... but i'm just looking for an excuse to hold out and wait for a stella instead ... then again once or twice a week doesn't really warrant getting a stella either. appreciate any replies Ray

We swapped all the trebles for strong doubles and singles This doggy was roughly 30kgs and absolutely smashed this lure on the troll Like spanner has said, run all your lures off wire traces and out of the wash and you shouldn't loose too many lures

I have 3 models in the 10-15kg range, 6', 6'6", 7'. All running 12000FA Spheros' The 6' rod has landed a 6ft reef shark on 50lb braid, can't fault them. The 6' rod was also used for tossing poppers off the rocks for GT's, been connected a few times but never landed due to straightened hooks =(

The locals in Vanuatu eat them and the resorts here have them as a local delicacy. Though I must say it's not something you would give up mud crabs for

Chewy not sure if this is too late, but for Santo I know of 2 charters available. - Bokisa Resort operates their own charters, so if your already booked in to accomodation with them then you just have to organise it with them. http://www.bokissa.vu/ - If your going to be staying in town then you can give Santo Island Dive & Fishing a call (I will get you their brochures for contact details) they are on the main road. Sorry I can only advise on Santo charters as I live here and can't really comment on the Port Vila charters, although it seems Nautilus might be the go. Iam in Santo until the 17th of Jan so if your here around then drop me a PM good luck with your Vila charters ray.

Hey raiders, Just a fish my mate (operates a resteraunt) had brought in the other night by some locals. We couldn't identify but the locals called it a king fish =\ ... now its not the usual yellowtail you get in aus/nz but are there aother species of kingies that may look like this in the pacific? Im in Luganville on Santo (I live here ) last week was crappy weather for us too but Wednesday showed signs of improvment and it was enough for me to head out with my brother and cousin just for a Reef bashing session. Only managed a Coral trout around 4kgs mark + a handfull of other reef species sweet lips, red throats, cods etc. also got smoked a few times by some bigger fish, didn't even get to see what the monsters were But we did managed to pull up a Leatherjacket of some sort ... took a pic of it and returned it. We only had a half day trip planned so stuck in close, nonetheless a good half a day spent on the water and not at work We also saw a pair of whales 30 meters from where we were which was a pleasant sight, but I think that ended our run with the fish The weather turned sour around noon anyway wind came up and it started to rain, so no big loss The photo shows the leathery and my cousin. You can see the weather we had that day. But ... besides from that day of decent weather we have been getting hit everyday with 15-20knot southerlys . So I haven't heard of any of the bigger boats going out and getting anything, which makes me jealous of the fish you got put onto by the crew of "In Deep" Should be getting my Spheros back from Tony at Fishfinders by Friday this week, hopefully weather plays nice and I might be headed out with a mate (on his "bigger" boat) to go for a jig NB: sorry for the long post

Hi my names Rayman (Ray) I'm 19 years old, I was born in Sydney, but grew up in Vanuatu. Never really did much fishing there as we didn't have a boat ... but everyone has to start somewhere! I started fishing around about Feburary of this year, out of a 3.1m Zodiac. I guess my PB so far out of this boat would be a 2.4kg Mangrove Jack or a 3.5kg Red Throat (mostly reef fish over there). Have since been on a mates boat to go offshore to the FAD for dollies and trolling around for tuna/wahoo ... loving it! Anyway Iam currently living in Roselands area of Sydney for the duration of my studies, but I took this year off studying International Tourism Management at Manly, so I will be flying back on the 25th of sept to spend christmas/new years with family, returning to syd in january. Then I guess next year I will be spending most of my time landbased trying out plastics Came across this site, when we got rained in on a fishing trip ... couldn't have spent the time indoors better

Mate, thats what I had looked at as well, but I don't think I would be all that fussed about colour (I may regret this later ) ... besides from that I think the SeaCharter 480DF has the exact same range/features.
