    Bullrout?

A friend of the family caught this in a yabby trap in a creek south of bellingen. I'm thinking a bullrout. Any ideas?
  2. I wish it was golden beach! Its zanzibar.
  3. I'm from golden beach, but am only landbased so not much help with gps marks.
  4. yep. The first ones a piranha I caught in Bolivia and the second one is a tigerfish from Lake Kariba in Zambia. Nice squid photo btw.
  5. on the topic of teeth, here's a couple mean sets of chompers not the sort of fish you kiss before you throw back.
  6. I've been using a 7ft2 raider for a few months now, mainly throwing plastics and sx40's for bream and flathead for which its been great. Also use it a bit casting slugs and poppers for small gts, queenies and gh's, and have had no worries. would happily recommend one.

    Abu 7000

Had the same situation with an abu 6500. Just follow the info on the link and in 20 minutes it will be as good as new. http://www.fishraider.com.au/articles/drag-system/. worked for me.
  8. Went for a quick flick around my local weedbeds this morning. Was in about thigh deep water when I saw a few prawns flicking around. A quick cast and I managed to hook a longtom about 40cms. Released him and he happily swam away, only to shoot back and latch on to my foot! Had to reach down and rip him off. Now have two nice rows of holes on my foot. Has this happened to anyone else? Think I might wade in to shore to take the hook out next time.
  9. I used to bream there quite a bit a few years ago. Mainly fished off the pontoon at night. Found that casting unweighted prawns in the direction of the boat ramp was the most productive method. Plenty of yakkas and squid under the pontoon. A few strange fish turn up around there every now and again. Have seen hairtail caught at night and have heard of some one catching a tarpon. Managed to catch a giant herring in the upper reaches about 8 years ago. but haven't seen one since. Don't know about the blackfish, have seen them in the upper reaches, but not for a long time. Anyway good luck. cheers Damo
  10. Hola! Just moved up here a couple of months ago myself. Not to many quite places to fish up here at the moment with the school holidays. You need to be out fairly early avoid the boats and the jetskis. There are plenty of places around Golden beach, just try to find a place near some weed beds. (opp. the gemini towers, around the old naval base, around the esplanade towards bells creek.) The tidal flow can be pretty strong so your probably better off fishing an hour or two either side of high/low tide. I don't bait fish much myself but nippers have always worked for me. Anyway good luck and enjoy the tequila!
