Hello all, Me and my dad are located on the sunshine coast and on christmas eve last year we picked up our new boat(best crissy present ever. The boat is a Markham Dominator 700o Canyon Runner. We have never owned anything this big, the biggest being a 4.8m hydrofield. The boat has twin 150 hondas on the back, the most expensive lowrance sounder/gps plotter with depth contours(makes it soo much easier to find reef) and all the other mod cons, it is on a trailer. Lucky we have the F250 otherwise we wouldnt be able to tow it. We just finished gearing up and about to start practising for the blue marlin season off here. The plan is to take it to cairns when i turn 17. Our max speed weve reached soo far is 70 kilometeres per hour with a little more revs to go, plus the motors are not fully run in yet. It is the best boat to fish in and gets me days off school.

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone has any suggested brands of specialised jigging braid to suit the above specified outfit. The prefered breaking is around 50 - 65pld and couloured in 10 or so metre incrimets would be an added plus. Cost is not too much of an issue. Cya, Dougy

When trolling, bridling the live bait is the best option. A rubber band is placed over the hook of choice, with the other end insertered into a bridling needle. The needle is passed through anywhere from the nostrils to the front of the eyes. The the end which was in the bridling needle is also placed on the hook. The hook is then twisted, so there is 3-4 wraps in the rubber band the the hook point goes back underneath the rubber band. Then the rubber band is slid up the shank of the hook to about halfway. This methods makes the livies last alot longer and swim straight. Hope this helps. Dougy

Hello all, I am extremely keen to give softie fishing for snapper a go. Today I purchased a pack of berkley gulp 5" jerk shads in the glow variety and a pack of berkley powerbait 4" minnow in the pearl watermelon colour. If anyone has used these for this purpose it would e great to know your thoughts. Also anyone with any experience in softie fishing for snapper, it would be great if you could tell me anything/everything you know. Such as ways to work the lures, jigheads, drop-shotting, leaders and lure selection. Also I have an outfit which will do the job for now but am looking at purchasing a purpose assembled snapper fishing outfit. Maybe the shimano twin power on a decent shimano rod. What are your thoughts. Any help is appreciated, thanks. Dougy

Hey, The main problem I have with wire is that when it is pulled or it moves through the water it kind of sings and lets off a sound through the water and this tends to put the fish off, this problem is mainly faced when trolling with wire. Dougy

hey, Unless you plan on using the whipping teqnique to catch flathead, the eggbeater is the only way to go. As far as rods go, althought hard to come by the 'revolution' series of rods by shimano are ideal. Hope this helps. Dougy

Hey, When i read that you live in Queensland I was shocked, but when i read the sunshine coast bit i was even more surprised. Me and my dad used to fis the the maroochy river frequently, but now we just bought a Markham Dominator 7000 Canyon Runner so we focussing on big fish now. It would be great to catch up for a fish as I'm now on eater holidays from school, but im only young and I dont have my drivers license, hanks anway. Cya, Dougy

hey, If you would like to catch big fish, there must be little fish around. A few tips that may help include, using a bigger prawn or a half hitch around the tail of the prawn. Also if you can get hold of some bait cotton this is useful. Simply bind the prawn to the hook and it shoulndt come off too easily. Hope this is a little helpful. Dougy
