  1. I'm starting up this thread as I'm now on the lookout for a Kingfish/Tuna rod for Summer.

My question is, which rod would best fit my needs, and which rod comes out on top?

Rapala Braid Concept or Shimano Bluewater Tcurve.

Both are very similarly priced so I'm not worried which is cheaper.

I'll be fishing both landbased and off the boat using 15lb and 20lb braid. I have no problem with long rods on the boat, so I think 7' would be the ideal length for me.

I'm looking at either a 6 - 10kg or 8 - 12kg rod (keeping in mind I'm not totally sure of the rod ratings the Rapala rods come in, so please advise me if they are inaccurate).

    Thanks in advance

  2. Awsome rod mate, I love that style of grip. The same as the ones on my Starlo Stix Tournament Pro but they look a hell of a lot more SXE!!!

Love the Jewie in the previous report, just off legal though, dam.

    Keep up the good work.

  3. Gday fishraiders, just wondering if someone could give me a little advice. I am currently using standard 4lb fireline on a 1000 size real, what is the differance between that and crystal fireline and what do you guys think is the best 4lb braid for tossing lures?

Definately FINS mate, I'm a Fireline hater :tease:

Holds memory, not true braid and feels like plastic.

Even more so to the Crystal Fireline, though I havn't used it, my mate has and he always gets wind knots on the spool and ends up losing at least 10m every time. I beleive "landbased" has had this problem with the crystal line aswell.

FINS imo is the best line you can get in the average price range, for the more expensive stuff I like Bass Hard PE braid.

  4. i know your spot x and it is a great spot for many different species.

i would target squid at night off the bundeena ferry wharf, they are everywhere down there at the moment, you will even see them swimming under your feet and get to sight cast for them.

Have you been donw there lately?

I've been waiting till I've seen them at one of my other spots before i spend ferry money to get over there.

I might be going down on Wednesday or Thursday targetting flatties off mainbar but it may be worth have a jig for some Squid if they are there atm.

  5. still finding time to get a rod for it. don't be fooled by the pic, its just an old spin rod with old mono. i think i just got a bit too eager hehe

i'll probably take it down to lilli pilli to do some practicing. hopefully the kings are there like last summer/autumn.

Well we should get them because I'm going to target them this Summer. Unlike last season.

You now have two outfits to own those Kingies so you have no excuses for not getting any.

  6. :biggrin2: Gotta be happy with that :yahoo:

Bring it down to the Port in a couple weeks when the Kings are more active, make your first fish a big Kingie!

Make sure you're confident with casting before you put expensive braid on it, so you don't end up losing 50m of braid like I did :ranting2:

  7. Sweet rig mate, get those first less exciting hours out of the way and service her fast so you can have fun with her as quickly as possible :1prop:

  8. SP's work as well in the middle of the night as they do in the middle of the day.

If the fish are there, they will have a go at the plastic no problem.

Night dwellers only need Moon and Starlight to be able to see where they are going and what they are going to eat.

I've earnt the name Pikeman because I'm a gun Pike fisho. These fish, 90% of the time will only be caught between dusk and dawn when there is very little to no light.
