  1. Well done mate. I will keep that in mind 'one last cast' which normally turn out another 30 minutes fishing for me. Haha...by the way, how do u prepare and cook the gummy? I tried one before but the ammonia smell ruined the taste. I bleed it straight away after i caught it around noon time off the boat and cooked it that night. Any suggestion to get rid of the ammonia smell?

  2. Long shank, size 2.

A nipper fits along the long shank. If they fall down the hook, which sometimes happens, a half hitch of the line around the nipper's tail will keep them upright and not bunched up.

Thanks for the info. Cheers mate.
  3. I get my best snapper on plastics or big floating baits. I prefer Garfish but if cant get them I buy whiting. 2-3kg reds will scoff a whole sand whiting easy. My reasoning is that the pickers tend to sniff out the oily fish like pilchards quicker before the reds find them. Depending on current I will have one large bait on a pair of snelled 6/0-8/0 hooks with a small ball sinker rarely bigger than a 5 cent piece running right down onto the bait even in 40-60 mt of water and often get bites mid water. I then work plastics deeper and have started playing with metal jigs like the bottomship to get right to the bottom. Cover the water layers and when you find them concentrate on that depth. They aren't always right on the bottom.

    Hi,

If fishing in 20m of water, do u use the same setup or u use running rig at the bottom for big bait?

    Cheers,

  4. Hi All,

Has anyone ever use salmon fillets or chunk for snapper fishing land base or boat? It seem salmon season is on now and thought of converting them into some legal or even better mega snapper :)

    Cheers,

  5. Hi All,

    Cheers,
