    Bastards

unbelievable what bastards. its unfortunate, but everything needs to be locked nowadays paul
  6. agree with pelican. my 4.5 johnson is like that too. need to pull the rope fast first to engage the wheel, then pull to start the motor. sometimes if throttle is in wrong position the pull start mechanism will not engage either. paul
  7. thanks for advice roosterman, craig and Huey will definitely tell friend to change fuel filter (putting in correct direction) and replace bulb and possibly fuel line. we have also discussed draining and cleaning fuel tank incase there is muck through it. it is a suziki DT75, he thinks isa a 1983- 1985 model. 2 stroke. will also ask if carbys were serviced. I don't know what was done at the last service. Paul
  8. hi all and thanks in advance I went out on Lake Macquarie on a mates boat. The boat hadn't been taken out for nearly two years. It was serviced two years ago and hadn't been on water since then. New fuel put in and battery was charged. Took a while to start, but once going everything was going well. Once out on the water the engine runs well then revs drop and loss of power. after awhile motor runs well again. This goes on for a quite a few times. Apparently this was happening before his last service 2 yrs ago aswell. When the engine slowed it sometimes stalled. A quick unplug of the fuel line and reconnecting seemed to help it restart as normal. Also when we got back home had a look at petrol tank and has a fuel filter in the line ( thin plastic) on the filter is an arrow pointing towards the tank. Is this correct? Should it be pointing in the direction of the fuel flow? During this trip water stopped coming out a couple of times, but a bit of wire in outlet saw it coming out again normally. We think it could be fuel problem or after reading some other previous posts could be overheating??? What do you think? Thanks
  9. nice Bream!! Great catch! I fish The Entrance a bit and never have seen any that big. What did it taste like? Same as other smaller bream? Just interested as some say big snapper are not as nice as pan size snapper. and like wise for other fish. Paul
  10. nice catch can you reach any of those areas from the shore? What about off Ettalong Beach? paul
  11. i'm going to start saving now, so i can experience what you just did. i've been dying to go for a while now. everytime i read about it, it makes me want to go even more. paul
  12. hi went fishing in lake macquarie sat & sun morning. Sat with 1 son 6:30am to 11am and we caught prob 15 undersize fish. fished near morriset and mannering park. mixed bag of bream, whiting, snapper, tailor & flathead. had one good run which busted off 3m from boat. looked like a flathead but was constantly fighting and peeling off line and could not feel head shakes. i had a 12lb leader Sunday with a mate from 6am to 10am and only caught 3 undersize fish. tried same areas as the day before, but nothing seemed to be happening. i always love it on the lake when there is not much activity. both mornings there was probably only 4 or 5 boats that i saw on the lake all morning. on saturday when we were leaving there was however a plane prctising its landings and takeoffs on the lake. paul
  13. whiting have been going off at the entrance for a couple of weeks now. i went with my 2 sons 2 weeks ago and caught 11 whiting and 3 flathead. took a feed of 6 fish home for dinner. we fished the channel on the north side for 2 hrs 8am to 10 am. paul
  14. anyone got any ideas thanks paul
  15. hi i have a 11' plywood boat. am looking to sell it, but have a query first. it has a crack on bottom that appeared when i was putting boat in water. got stuck on trailer and i wasn't patient enough :-( how much do you guys think it is worth in this condition, will be selling boat only. the boat has adjustable trolley wheels at back of boat to assist in moving boat. i will be keeping the outboard and trailer for my other boat. thanks Paul
  16. hi i have a 10' plywood boat. am looking to sell it, but have a query first. it has a crack on bottom that appeared when i was putting boat in water. got stuck on trailer and i wasn't patient enough :-( how much do you guys think it is worth in this condition, will be selling boat only. keeping the outboard and trailer for my other boat. thanks Paul
  17. thanks all for your advise. i spent last saturday running around trying to find someone to fix it. First i tried auto electricians, no luck, they wouldn't even try to fix it. Next tried some boating places, who told me to buy new cable or new unit. finally went to a local TV repair place in Charmhaven who reconnected it for me for $10. tested it in the water on Sunday. It works, but not as well as it did in my cousin's boat. It gave me accurate depth readings, but showed absolutely nothing in the water. Before you say maybe there were no fish in the water, i did catch approx 15 taylor and bream (all undersize apart from one 45cm tailor) and there was plenty of other debris in the water. the unit does not have any sensitivity settings. not to worried though, i got myself a depth finder for approx $25 ( including battery terminals, fuses etc). didn't have anything before on my 3m plywood "tinnie" so i'm better off. now i can find drop offs and changes to underwater structure paul
  18. looks like a nice day out. i love it when the water is flat like that. no rocking around the boat like a drunken sailor! paul
  19. nice one. the tide runs pretty strong now, compared to before the flood. next time take some heavier jigheads. paul
  20. hi my cousin have just upgraded his sounder. and now i have just scored his old fishfinder, only problem is the transducer cable has been cut. does anyone know if it is a simple job of reconnecting the wires in the cable. are there any special tricks? model is navman cheers paul
  21. as a rule : only borrow money if it will make money. ie you need what you are purchasing to make money. one excemption maybe: your house. if you can't afford it save it or buy something you can afford. sure it's good to have it now, but it will end up costing a lot more, than being patient and saving.
  22. I'm going to order a couple right now!!! wish i could afford one!!!
  23. if you like beach fishing, try north entrance. the channell has opened up a bit and the local papers are saying jewfish are being caught as well as salmon. I have also heard that avoca and terrigal are pretty good rock fishing spots although dangerous at times. I have only tried them both once with not much success. plenty of land based spots around the lakes, or brisbane waters also. hope the weather stays good for you! cheers paul
