  1. Cheers Dan I'll give it a crack - I need to keep my squid alive for longer than 10mins. Does the pump sit inside the boat or is it like a bilge and therefore needs to be fixed to the hull (outside)? Also where would I look for one of those kits?
  2. Any suggestions for rigging up an old esky as a flow through bait tank?
  3. That's no goldie (look at pectoral fin) - be interested to know what it is
  4. [just north of the moored boats in about 2 metres of water......size 2 jigs and use the spray] Bit late on this one. But what spray would that be?
  5. Thanks for that fellas, am trying to get out on Friday and hopefully if all goes well I'll have a report (if this wind stops blowing).
  6. Hi all. Just some quick info on the best ramp to use (coming from the north) to access middle harbour. A waterways map (looks old) shows ramps at Manly and Roseville. Are these my best options for a 4.5m tinny?
  7. I too have heard of the 6 month lock out. Hopefully this will help somewhat but can't help but wonder why 6 months and what basis this was decided upon. The commercial fishos can't be too happy with no harbour and now no Pittwater but it does beg the question whether commercial fishing should be allowed in this region at all. Now that would be a bonus for everyone especially with reports of the harbour fishing so well.
  8. While it seems that the pelagics are going nuts in the harbour at the moment does anyone have any current reports on Kings, salmon etc in Pittwater. I tried dragging a few lures around Pittwater for a couple of taylor (40cm) last week but no sign of any surface activity. Anyone having any joy in Pittwater at the moment or should I be launching the tinny down at Roseville next time?

    Fishing Bible

I began cutting and sorting magazine articles into various folders a while back. Its great to flip through once a year or so. That said however I don't think I'm up to the dedication you show in your 'bible'. I don't even keep a log book (which I probably should). Cheers Flea
  10. Mate, try weighted nymphs and or globugs under a large bushy dry such as blowfly or royal wulff long leaders and stealth are essential- trout are opportunistic feeders and will generally feed year round but beware of closed seasons!! I have even caught fish as they are spawning (in season). What a great spot!!! I bet that water is far deeper than it looks, do you know if it holds many resident fish? By the way that first pic looks like a monster. I might just have to become very good friends with you!!!
  11. Great stuff (again). Good to hear a few reports coming from Pittie of som good kingy action.
  12. Huge congrats on your first king. You watch em fly into the esky now have some real confidence.
  13. Very disappointing. Upon my return to Sydney I will also have to house the boat roadside. The need to take, sounder, radio all boat equipment oars, life jackets, anchor etc out but now the prop as well!!! Is it just pain in the arse kids or is there a black market for props?
  14. Left is right if you know what I mean.

    Boat Cover

Thought I might let you all know my own experience. I have spent many hours on my own 4.55m tinnie forward steer (post pics at later date). I have repainted, redone all electrics, new outboard, cut new floor, new carpet seats etc etc. This has taken some time and lots of love and care. I initially covered it with a cheap $40 cover that lasted about six months before falling apart. My next option was to go more expensive so for about $340 I purchased a great looking cover with plenty of straps. This has lasted about 12months but is starting to show signs of wear. It now has a small tear in it and I'll be buggered where it came from? The harsh sun of FNQ is taking its toll again so it seems. I am returning to Sydney soon and hoping to get a custom cover made although I admit I have no idea of cost. But to protect the "Little Prince" it would probably be worth it. Cheers Flea
  16. Nathan , you should do well on the spaniards as there are still some big bruisers (25kg+) about. Fingermark are coming on the chew about now inshore. Enjoy the trip - weather up here is fantastic but wind starting to pick up a little - today at least. Cheers Flea

    Lures For Kings

Thanks for the advice fellas. But what are blades? Are these metal slices or more like the blades on traditional trout lures and spinnerbaits?
  18. Just wondering what lures apart from jigs has everyone used succesfully for kings, trolling and spinning?

    Downriggers

Are downriggers as effective in Pittwater as they are in MH and the harbour proper?

    Downriggers

Looks like I'll have to fork out for one. Especially after your last report Namesay.
  21. You have the kingy thing wired. Most would have been happy with the two on the livies and either gone home or off to get more squid. Not master king - into em with the jigs!! Great report as always and well done on the catch - AWESOME

    Downriggers

What sort of costing for the Penn?
  23. Now that's a solid flattie! Well done. You'll have to replace the Nov pics with the latest pb. Great stuff.

    Does This Look Real?

I think that is a very clever scam there. Looks good though.
