  1. The key to fishing The Hump is not to fish too shallow or on sand You must fish in at least 28 fathoms and they will not plague you out there, generaly. We fished three days and caught a swag of reds to 3kg as well as mowies, pig fish bonito and leatherjackets . We drifted because of the strong 2knot current and had afew bite offs, but minimal. Hope it helps Roscoe
  2. Captain Bat, Well done my long suffering Broadbill deckhand of 10 years. To get the first marlin of the season is special for any skipper May there be many more for you. Roscoe
  3. Billfisher cubed near Browns until 5pm with the Raiders but no tuna was the result. It is very much a miss and hit affair at the moment "Somedays are diamonds somedays stone".On Broadbill I have taken our crews to the southern grounds and had great catches of snapper to 3.5kg, bonito, mowies pig fish and big striped tuna. The three days fishing have been most enjoyable by captain and crews. Sometimes the simple things are the best Roscoe
  4. gianniz, Mate catfish are banned on Broadbill and Billfisher No they are all snapper and they will get bigger as winter rolls on Ross
  5. Industry, That's easy to solve Come fishing with us one day Thanks for your best wishes Roscoe
  6. Tony, Everyone enjoyed the stripeys I wish they grew to 50 kilos they would put a yellowfin to shame Glad you had agood time Roscoe
  7. SquidinkMate just the humble xmas tree They luv them Ross
  8. Pete, If you fish in close the jackets rape you, but out wider they are OK We fish in 28 fathoms and most were caught on floaters. If you look in our site go into Fishing Stories and Hints and scroll back to a How Too on fishing floaters for reds. Click on this link. My Webpage Hope that helps Ross
  9. TUNA SLOW BUT SNAPPER OUR SAVIOUR Because of the lack of tuna after 30 hours of cubing between our boats Broadbill and Billfisher We made a decision to give the yellowfin a swerve for a while. The fish have moved with the eddies to the Ulladulla, Kiama grounds. They will be back, but when who knows. Both Glenn and I decided that sad faces are not what we want to look at so for three days over the long weekend we travelled southward to our snapper grounds. We caught snapper to 2.5 kilos,(no big ones but perfect table size) mowies, pig fish, bonito, big jackets and on the way home encountered big schools of striped tuna smacking the big schools of pilchards that have built up in Bate Bay. We targeted these on the light rods and listened to the drags sing. All our groups had a ball and took home a great feed and all thanked us for a great days fishing. That has the edge on catching no yellowfin, with our crews watching the Emu throw pilchards for little result.
  10. Well done guys I think you must have found the only three fish swimming in our waters. Everyone else caught zip off Sydney over the weekend..That is if you caught them off Sydney. I know that there are some excellent tuna off Ulludulla, Kiama. We done. Ross

  14. Fishing over the past fortnight has been tough mainly because of the inclement weather. However, in between gale forced winds and squally conditions our trips have been most successful. In Botany Bay there has been some big tailor around the heads these fish have ranged up to 1.5kg and have been in schools just on dark. Bonito too, have been everywhere as well as rat kings off Shaky at La Perouse. My fishing partners Norm Jefferies and John Kearns and myself have fished the upper Georges for some good catches of blackfish, this however was before the rains so maybe that has slowed them up a little with the extra fresh in the river. Bream have been excellent in the Georges with some big fish caught this week at The Moons and Lugarno best baits salted striped tuna or mullet gut. On BOADBILL and BILLFISHER we have been catching school yellowfin to 30kg out wide and targeting the kingfish on jigs in close. The kingies have ranged from undersize to 80cm’s They are plentiful at the Peak, 12 mile and at Bluefish off North Head Sydney Harbour, but remember that a couple per angler is enough. These fish are just coming back from the slaughter of a couple of decades ago from the lethal kingfish traps so let’s give them a chance not like one boat I heard of that killed 50 kingfish in a session, that’s plain irresponsible fishing. These fish are still recovering and are still in juvenile stage they should be caught and released as much as possible. Let’s work on this and consider the fishery for others, whole sale slaughter of fish is plain stupid in today’s thinking. There are big schools of striped tuna any where from the heads out to 70 fathoms always fun on light tackle. Predictions for the next fortnight Good snapper down south, great tuna fishing out wide and kingfish at the 12 mile and off Bluefish at Sydney Harbour Captain Ross and Glenn Hunter’s boats BILLFISHER and BROADBILL are available for charter on 9534 2378 Or visit our web site www.gamefishingcharters.com.au for more detailed reports and some great photos
