  1. Sounds like a close call! Luckily you got past unscathed.
  2. We tangled with a ton of bronzies/duskies a couple of months back on the Northern beaches in one night session. It was a lot of fun on light gear, im actually surprised you don't hear more about them as a beach sport fish. A couple of weeks back I got bitten off by a tailor on 40lb FC Rock, hooked up on bottom snelled hook and rubbed right through the line!
  3. Nice catch. I've found it to be a bit slow on the Northern beaches lately. The odd fish here and there but not in big numbers.
  4. Hey Arthur, I think you must be fishing with a way too heavy sinker, as you have pulled that report up from the deep depths of the reports pile, it was from 2012!!! I think size limits may have changed since then, and I think there may also be a keep limit of 2.
  5. Nice catch mate! Beautiful colours. I love the line lay on your reel so even. Nice braid too! What brand braid is it?
  6. They took some old beach worms that had been salted. I could also feel them striking at my pillies.
  7. Nice catch! We were also out Friday night, we had similar success, 1 Banjo Ray, 2 Salmon over 55cm, some whiting. Caught one legal Salmon Saturday morning, lost something decent on a metal lure.
  8. Nice catch. The salmon and tailor have been scarce in my opinion. I have given up on them for now since the whiting are firing. Is there usually much salmon around this time of year?
  9. Sounds good. Have you targeted bream with it? Just wondering how it performs at the lighter end of the scale. I've got an old Daiwa Proshooter 2000 that I serviced and loaded with 10lb J braid (I think I should have gone lighter), so might try to find a Wicked Weasel next time they are on sale.
  10. Great work mate, some nice catches there. What rod/reel are you using? Looks like a gen black, I am looking to buy one, maybe wicked weasel, just wondering how you like it?
  11. Hi Guys, I'm in the market for a light surf setup, mainly for targeting small species and the odd salmon off the beach and potentially rocks later down the track. I was thinking of buying a Daiwa Air Edge Surf, however I'm not sure of what size and action would be the best. I was originally thinking the 106M (320cm Medium) or 110M (335cm Medium). I don't have a large rod, so I wanted to buy something decent for beach/surf fishing. I mainly use baits such as worms/prawns, but would like to try some metal lures if the conditions/location is suitable. I was thinking the Air Edge Surf paired with a Daiwa Caldia 3000 or 4000. Otherwise I was thinking of the Gary Howard Surf Special. What do you guys think? Any reviews or tips on the Air Edge Surf? Is it suitable for bait fishing? or only lures? Thanks
  12. I knew I shouldn't have come on during work hours lol, now I can't stop looking at the fish. Here is another link from the same site. But this time they rekon that they have even caught sharks lol, anything is possible. Take a look at the latest catches on the left hand menu for some pretty big snappers. But for everyone that loves a good load of BS, get this... The largest great white shark ever taken on a kite weighed 791 kg and was caught at the Boiling Pot, Mazappa Bay, Transkei, South Africa. It was 3.533 metres long, had a girth of 2.50 metres. The angler, Bill Dalgleish took three and a half hours to subdue the fish. This was taken from the same site... http://www.fishingkites.co.nz/sharks/great_white_shark.html How can a man reel in a 791kg shark?? Too many Anyway back to work!!
  13. The people in NZ are funny... Check this out... http://www.fishingkites.co.nz/articles/mahi_mahi_fishing.htm If you want to catch mahi mahi off the beach or rocks, they have this article about it on this kite fishing site. With all these kites and submarines, they must not know how to cast their line LOL Honestly, there are some good things to read on that site if you are bored and want to laugh. Good luck!
