  1. if the kings are not taking livies and ur at a well known king spot then you should mix it up a bit try sluggos, jigs, plastics and poppers to stir up the water or alternatively try cut baits too from my experience kings will strike, when hungry and strike out of curiosity if you cover those bases then you should be sweet but sometimes their just not on! believe me its more frustrating when their at ur feet, you can see them and their not taking anything. Jimmy
  2. i fish that spot sometimes plenty of life there mate create a nice burley trail and the blackies hit the surface as for the kings, there always thick there this time of year
  3. second that mate good on ya schools of people working on schools of tailor!! that says it all, it would be hilarous PS: this can be done with the same results any night at the spit too! from now to feb so no need to risk fines too seriously anyone working schools in that part of the harbour are struggling in my opinion. cheers Jimmy
  4. shoulda kept it you know yuki will want to eat it! so when are you gona come and catch some real fish with me? lol nice one mate Jin
  5. depends on your style of fishing A. plastics and sluggos, when waters warm up hit some wharves that hit deeper water zones and work areas consistently, match your plastic size and colour to the avail baitfish and you should have success (my fav last season was a slimey colour), i would really concentrate on areas east of the harbour bridge. B. live baiting is ideally the other method, anywhere that is a head and has a constant flow of current should be right with usual livebaiting rigs and freshest baits and have a decent selection out too (squid strip, yakka, pillie etc) to get the food chain going. Or live bait at the wharves but with no sinker. C.live squid, fished unweighted at the end of clifton gardens wharf landing the king once you hook up is another story. but the story at the end of the day is, sometimes their just not on and you may need to wait till the water warms up before their thick and fish a spot consistently if you know it holds fish. Cheers Jimmy
  6. Love them nitro rods, awesome! are you fishing from land or boat?
  7. pity that whole area will be closed to recreational fishing forever in a matter of years the second marine park review is up, they could announce the news in a couple months. the national park and wildlife wants to extend the current marine park sanctions to include basically the whole of beecroft peninsula, thats means from the inner tubes all the way to currarong beach. i know i wont be voting greens ever again and you can just imagine how many LBG fishos are spewing!
  8. the last i heard of a king pulled up there was about 2 week ago then there was a heap of garfish in the area and the king was taken on a live gar my mate has also lost a couple the squid are still there and heaps of blackfish if your land based wanting a king its pretty hard atm no matter where u go! the salmon is about to come through though
  9. yes u can get em big inside, but they never have the bump on their head, no matter how big.
  10. i'm suprised you headed offshore today rod i was fishing in the arvo and it seemed quite choppy sorry i couldnt make it this time but definately up for a harbour king bash if u gimme bit more notice still havent landed a king on ur boat yet how'd ya go today? the usual bag?
  11. the place is now closed from fishing, things just got out of control on the weekend you can fish there if you'd like to risk a $500 fine but be warned there are locals there with rangers numbers on speedial
  12. give the bonito a couple of weeks you dont have to venture to the rocks to get bonnies either sydney harbour is a great spot when their on heading up north isnt a bad idea either, try avoca as its very popular for bonnies but always expect a crowd there. however a mate of mine tells me their around north head all year round?!
  13. hahha! their no good at that size and should be released since most biggies are females we got a nice specimen around 1.2metre (i sh*t you not) around the spit the other week so yeh theres plenty of biggies out there
  14. Yo louis! looks like we gotta get ourselves a bigger net, mine didnt feel like it could handle it must admit it was a damn good feed chef mate of ours came and whipped up a stunning meal of grilled snapper fillets now lets hope the kings round there will be damn big too! cant wait til next time mate, but gotta go earlier, way earlier!
  15. thats the way it is there mate!

    Hoodlums

G'day raiders anyone got any hints on how to catch hoodlums ESPECIALLY when u can see them cruising around and their not taking livies or fresh and live squid? swear they were all 1 metre in length, couldnt believe me eyes till my mate saw them as well. today was so damn frustrating, spent the day land based in the harbour the main target was kings, however we did get nice 3kg snapper (couldnt believe it didnt have a hump). The kings just wouldnt take our bait! we got follow ups, we got them up when we burleyed, even spun an unweighted squid head straight through em (just turned and looked) Like WAT DA! any help/ideas from fellow raiders would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Jin
  21. Well done mayte! we also got one last thurs at 67 no prizes for guessing where you got it! cant wait til this friday, last exam woohooo!!! so was he the elusive local?
  22. more zoning for these sharks will piss off a lot of fishos! after the greens effort on closing much of the areas round jarvis I've serously changed my view towards the party. Just have a chat to some serious LBG and general fisherman round the south and you will know why! I've been told their 'literally' trying to close some of the best land based fishing spots in the world!
  23. Yeh exam times sucks doesnt it! Jus did my finance 1 this morning and what better than to go fishing after to unwind. bread, cabbage or stringy weed (collect on the rocks, the stuff growing on the surface, fresher the better) is the go for blackfish. each works well in different phases of the tide plus also pending on where your fishing you can get blackfish hooks, their extra puny and green in colour for drummer, live crabs and tiger prawns! Generally the idea is you watch your float the whole day! however both blackfish and drummer are great pound for pound fighters for their size! ever land a big silver drummer and you will know why! Just do a search of the site for 'blackfish' and you will find plenty of info. Cheers Jin
  24. woulda been fun on that little stradic! if i'm not wrong
