  1. When we went to Dirk Hartog Island, we always used whiting heads. Picked up about 70 snapper on the boat, all legal and all above the 50cm mark, no Bulls#%t.... But that wasn't off a wharf. I generally cast out far and wide and the pickers are all afraid of the bigger ones. I reckon whiting heads would be awesome though, like Davy said....

  2. Work in setting up a school tuck shop.... I used to by cans at+_+_) and sell them for 80 cents each, made a killing, $200 a week for being at school was pretty awesome let me tell you!

  3. We headed to the HAwkesbury for the weekend in our new holiday house on Dangar Island. We decided to start at Little Pittwater, where I thought I had seen some weed. Proceeded to attempt to squid, with no result. Laid out some berley and flickd a few lines and came up trumps with a litte fflathead. Then looked at the burley bucket and hundreds of yakka's are at the back of the boat. Alas, they would not bite :05: ....

LEft out a line and went to sleep. Couple of minutes later, I'm taking a slash at the back of the bite and watch as a small tailor jumps on our handline bait. After a few acrobatics, a tailor was landed.

Then headed to Flint and Steel, to pull up tiddlers :ranting2: . Shortly after we get slammed three times in a row :1yikes: ! Each fish had some serious running and one pinged the 14kg :biggrin2: ! Pretty pleased to see they are out there. Nothing much happened later that day and we were about to go, but then lended our net to a bloke who caught an 8 pound flattie. :mad3: He was pretty close to us too.

Next day was pretty average, but had one fish PInG my 2kg at wobby beach!! A ray was also pulled up....

  4. Dunno, but I dont think they would be as hot bite. However, if you look at some of namesay or Kelvins reports, some of the bigger kings he has caught have been on a dark background.....

Night is more of a Jewie time from what I have heard, though.

  5. All of the above work well, flatties especially respond well to anything that is put in front of them. The BIG bream baits I use however are different. I learnt the technique of member Stebobo, a mate. Caught a 1.6kg bream in a matter of minutes. Bread in the center, cheese and old chicken on the outside. The cheese and chicken give off oily scents and strong smells, and the bream are attracted to it. Then the bread, cheese and chicken in combo keep them interested so they decide to take a nice big bite.

The only thing is though, I haven't caught many small bream with this. Only relatively bigger ones, so if you are looking for loads of bream, I would use hawkesury prawns (green ones SUCK!). Flatties respond well to most baits, but a wavy strip bait will grab their attention, or a poddy mullet or yakka.

    Hope this helped,
