  1. TAIRYO Nano Speed Plus in 6-8kg, they are 250.00 though. Light enough in the tip for light baits but with plenty of guts, probably even more grunt then 6-8kg.
  2. I fished to 40m from the hacking up to botany bay for the same problem, i too am sick of throwing gear over the side.
  3. I guess I just have to learn to avoid these buggers, lets hope they start to decline cause I can't afford to keep throwing gear over the side.
  4. The Scourge of the ocean. The last ten years they seem to be increasing along the sydney coast line. Are my observations correct?...i am interested in some of the old tmers opinions?...have they always existed in the same number? How do you avoid? Do you know of any research that may tell us why there is such an increase.
  5. Are you fishing from a boat?
  6. Thanks, after much retail sales spin thats not met what i need, i am having a custom made. Its going to cost about 100-200 more than i planned but i get to design it. Cheers Luke
  7. Cheers for the replies all, time to get to the tackle shop and pick a few of these up to check the feel and balance
  8. Sweet I have been told Daiwa Black label by a few already. I also would like to look at a Nitro magnum butt or baby viper, has anyone had any experience ?
  9. Hi Managed to pickup a Sustain 2500fg pretty cheap, i was after a 3000 but was informed by Shimano that they share the same body its just the spool thats different, so am going to purchase the 3000 spool. So i am looking for a rod thats in 3-5/6kg range for around the 250.00 mark give or take 50.00 got any suggestions? Want to use it for snapper as a lighter style rod, but be able to flick 5" plastics, what are your thoughts...... Cheers Luke

  13. Hi Looking at doing a Trip to Adelaide in Sept / Oct and while i am there would like to do a day or two on a fishing charter. Can anyone recomend any? Our aim of the Holiday is mainly to check our Kangaroo Island(Food & Fishing), Adelaide and Barossa (Food & Wine) so any other recomendations here would be great. Cheers Luke
  14. Hi Zenman The only thing i did was made sure it spent a good amount of time on ice and in the fridge so that the flesh sets properly, but i do that with all fish. Atleast 12 hours. Cheers Luke
  15. Yeah it fought well. Sorry about pic, i think i may have to resize. I'll try tonight.
  16. Hi All Bit of a late report. Tuesday last week caught a nice gummy just over a metre fishing for flatties in 20m off Garie. Also kept 12 nice flatties and let a HEAP of keepers go. It was a great day. Hope the pic works. Cheers Luke PS. Green curry Gummy mmm
  17. Unfortunately it was the only Bass i have ever eaten and regret taking it like you would not believe. I still kick myself to this day, and have vowed to never take another. (I dont like the taste of Bass and if i did i still wouldnt keep them) Cheers Luke
  18. Well done, 33cm is a Great 1st Bass. My PB Bass of 40cm s as memorable as the 2 black marlin and my first Jewy caught. Cheers Luke
  19. Hi Dave I figured it was an off weekend, the water just didnt look right. Thanks for the tips cause i dont think we would of caught what we did without your advice. We will be back, next i reckon i owe you beer. Cheers Luke
  20. Hi Croydon Thanks for the Tips had a Great weekend South Durras is definately a great place and will be back. Did it a little tough on the fishing front though. Saturday caught 3 Reds at 35cm each and 1 Flathead all day. Sunday ended up with 1 mowie and 2 Good Flathead and that was it. The water was really dirty, is that normal around Durras? Also the temp dropped 1 degree in close from 17.5 on sat to 16.5 on Sunday. I guess what suprised me the most was that we didnt even pickup much rubbish like sweep and sargos etc most place were pretty barron. Cheers Luke
  21. Hi Lot of good tips here. I take a Kwells about 1hr before i step on the boat and dont eat anything until my stomach feels empty. Then have a ham sandwhich and wash it down with Ginger beer. (Just a plain sandwich) Ginger helps with the stomach but i dont believe any Ginger remedy works in its own right. Also try few diff travel sickness tabs as some have diff effects on people, like Travacal doesnt work at all for me. Stick with it hey! I almost gave up as the old boy use to drag me out and make me spew. I beat him though Cheers Luke
  22. Thanks for the tips, will let you know how we go. Travelling from Sydney Tomorrow at Lunch time. Cheers Luke
  23. Thanks for the Heads up Gents. Hi Stu, what channel will you be on? VHF... Got the gear to go wide but will probably just focus on snapper, spent last sat at browns mountain for only a few stripies. Thanks Dave for the recent report. Given that i dont know the grounds aroud Durras at all, what do you feel the best approach is for the snapper... Drifting .. or anchoring and berley? (I Have seen aerial shots from Google earth etc) Any advice appreciated... Also we are staying at the Big 4 in Durras where is a good location for a beer and feed Cheers Luke
