  1. Couple of days off so up to do a bit of fishing. First day got some worms and spent the rest of the tide fishing, nothing but a nice 38cm whiting. Second day couple of 30cm or so whiting, kept them as I wanted to have enough for a meal with the big un. Pulled up another stingray, threw it back. End of the day, about 8 pm, dead high, start walking back and stop at a nice looking sudsy gutter and throw out for one last time, hoping for a nice bream to make the meal up. After a min or so in the water, something hits the worm and gives a bloody big yank and goes for a nice little run. As usual when something gives the line a hefty pull my heart goes a hundred miles an hour and my knees go weak lol. I think to myself better not be another bloody stingray, and from the weight of it if it was it'd be the biggest one yet. Play it into the shore and I'm shitting myself cos that's when ya lose em, and I get a flash of an eye and a big mouth and silver and think I've got my first salmon and with some size on it as well. Wave rolls it over and I see the side, ****** JEWY!! Bloody stoked, I get it up in the wash and it spits the hook, I grab it with both hands and throw it up on the shore lol. Went 56cm, ate a size 2 worm hook (real weak hook) piled with worm on 6kg. No pics, but yeah, I'm ****** stoked right now. Oh yeah anyone got any simple recipes? Oh yeah and a few cars there when I left, think some peeps must have the same idea. Dark of the moon, high and then run out tide.
  2. There's a good primer here. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...ic=61&hl=gutter I'd say figure out how to get the beachworms too, it's not too hard to get a handle on using the pliers. Just don't be like me today and lose track of time as you run around the beach getting worms and cut away from your fishing time lol
  3. one of these mate? http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...wtopic=2685&hl=
  4. bloody nice fish, gotta be happy pulling that from the goon.
  5. Hey mate I hear it's a bit sketchy in your car will broken into (like all bloody parks) and a bloke seemed to be intimating you could get into a bit of trouble. That accurate?
  6. up around that national park at Lake Munmorah, opposite Bird Island.... but, uh, it's a real crap surf beach with no pippies and no worms and crap gutters and no fish so please don't go there..
  7. Hi went for a fish on birdie, nice little session, kept a nice thick surf breamo going 35, beautiful fish and they taste bloody delicious i reckon, poor thing lol Anyway played up this trevally type fish, it fought quite hard on 4kg and went 37cm. Looking in my little fish book I picked it for a Golden Trevally. Then I saw that Al Belisimo rock video and it was a dead ringer for what they were calling a samson fish. Apart from the tuna like tail, blured vertical gold stripes with the dark bars, the other distinctive thing about it was it made croaking noises out of the water. Reckon a Golden Trev is it? Not being keen on eating something when i don't know what it is i let it and a smaller one go. Also managed to snap my sand spike off, i have to work anyway so no worries, in for repairs.
  8. That'll keep the wolf from the door then, sounds like a fun session.
  9. lol, maggot burley, that's great. Down at Kincumber you can buy minced chicken at the pet produce store for cheap, I've used it a few times and the breamos love it, mixed in with wheat etc. I don't recon there's any need for tuna oil with all the oil in the chicken. Anyone know a place on the coast to buy chook pellets cheap?
  10. Sounds like a heck of a lot of fun mate, are you just flicking at them with a 6-7ft bream rod and a higher pound line?
  11. hah, quality is more important than quantity. well done on the mullet and breamos mate
  12. lol I hope you're bigger than him
  13. Yer I know mate, but i was off a foot of earth ledge and surrounded by mangroves lol. Doesn't matter, I was just experimenting. yeah Mitch, I learn the hard way gel spun floats heh
  14. Decided to give the soft plastics a bash as i haven't used em much. Walked along the bank and got my feet weet this morning at Erina creek, flicking out, hooked up on a nice looking 40-50cm lizard, played it to my feet and was a bit lost as to what to do with it lol. had no net, so i was gonna get a rag out of my bag and try and pick it up, but it pulled me off, either it ground through the leader when its head went above the water, but i think its more likely that the knot slipped, i had a tiny tag on it. i wasn't really fussed cos it was good as caught in my book and this way i didn't have to clean it, tho the dumb thing has a jig in its mouth... not much else, a couple of taps, and while flicking off the bridge i saw the head of some fish follow the lure at the surface, dunno what it was. then I got spooled... by a boat... got all my line back luckily cos the knot to the leader snapped, pretty funny tho me holding onto this screaming reel yelling obscenities and struggling to get my knife out interesting day tho, looking foward to seeing some sp's in action at the social
  15. Aren't a lot of the Indo fishing villagers living right on the breadline as well? I know I saw a doco about some of them, it didn't go into detail over the fishing offences, basically crossing into the wrong demarcation zone, which they reckon they couldnt exactly tell as they had no gps (not entirely convinced over that but anyway), if they're caught the boat is confiscated and they spend a few years in indeifinite detention in a reffo camp for some reason or another i cant remember. Dunno if these are the same blokes who are killing the sharks, or if there are pro fishing pirates like those urugyan guys, but it didn't seem like these guys had much to fall back on either.
