    Avoca

It's avoca lagoon Muscle, it meets the sea in the middle of avoca beach, central coast nsw. What sort of outfit do you use for spinning the small metals Reeso?
  4. Amazing mate, was the gutter you were fishing near rocks or were they just migrating past the beach and swim into the gutters? Love pigs on the plate too, top fish.
  5. I reckon a fish that size... you either eat it or it eats you!

    Avoca Lagoon

You couldn't go wrong with a nipper. iirc there's a bed near the paddle boats, quite small tho. People prawn there as well so some live or very fresh ones would prolly be a gun bait. u mean a mangrove jack tyrone?
  7. Well they eat like pigs, and when they get real big kilo wise like most fish they don't get too much bigger at a point and just get real fat and powerful.
  8. Sure mate, live bait em with a slow trolled plankton, play em out on dental floss then tag and release.
  9. tested the action of a 2inch softy in the shallows at my feet and watched a 2 inch flathead shoot up about a foot and nail it. hooked himself too.
  10. Apparently Mustad have stopped making those brown triple strength thingos, and all the local tackle shops only have Hayabusa's. Great hooks but pretty pricey to be snagging up on cunji. Anyone know any suitable cheaper hooks?
  11. Been pulling a few of the stubborn buggers even in this massive swell. Gotta admire a fish that can still jump in a shore break with a few ounces of lead strapped to it.
  12. Yep saw the story, i was kinda surprised he couldn't grease enough hands to get it in, guess it's just too over the top for one boat, got the green vote to thank on that one.
  13. Is that the jetty near the cemetery, or the on on the other bank, they face a narrow channel with some deep enough water? I don't mind that spot. The only thing that gets me about jetties are the bloody lights which come on at night, just when you can get some nice fish. bummer about the biggun, sucks when you cant even get a look at it to see what you're onto.

    Winney Bay

hey mate got back from there this arvo, some big predators had herded up a huge school of salmon into the outlet bay, amazing sight, i mean the water was chocka block with them for about 30 square metres right up to the shallows, every so often you'd see a big tail break the surface further out. i had some slices on me and they were so thick i could foul hook em, one put up a hell of a fight like that. even broke out the softies when i lost the slice and they took em, all on pig gear. lbg fishos would be going weak at the knees, cant imagine that sort of feeding frenzy going on every day. could've done with a live bait stick and ballon myself. dunno what sort of fish co-operates to bail them up like that.

Late reply but I asked a nice gentleman a while ago what he was doing walking the edge of ettalong in the night with a torch and net, and it was exactly what you described. Didn't see him get one but he mentioned not to shine the torch directly on them.
  16. Spent a couple of days down there a week or so ago with the pig gear. Highlights were a bream going 38cm and a pig nearing 3kilos, all taken on bread. Also had a pretty woeful shot at spinning metal lures, not entirely convinced I'm geared up properly for that using a 7000XT freeliner, but I took a first time shot and got hammered once and saw a follow close in. oh yeah and a nice 700gm southern hopped on and i skillfully span up a gurnard. Also got a nice 37cm bream at birdie beach a few days ago along with the usual nice sized whiting, the bite has been on since suns gone down over this full moon. Hooked onto some big lazy unknown something at the local rocks that busted me off, and after a sizeable wave that stuck out of the set like dogs balls knocked me about, I decided I didn't like the low ledge and went home. All in all some good fishing.
  17. That's a real nice surf bream, got a similar size one recently, lots of fun, unless its a reli catching it.
  18. hi mate normally plenty of poddies near the wharfs at inlet, past train crossing should come to social http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...topic=4062&st=0 sry typing with mouse
  19. puter stuffed kb too using mouse to type im in 1 may non-boater look foward too it
  20. Hi, hoping to match it to an abu freeliner 7000XT, or probably some other thready, maybe an alvey if the reel isn't suitable. Pigs and Groper is the target, and if it's feasible to get a rod that could stand up to livebaiting for bigger pelagics as well that would be nice to have the option there, if not forget about it. All guidance appreciated. tia
  21. Ah what a bummer, almost had him. Hey Tyrone u reckon you could send me that number? I can't google them up unfortunately.
  22. ty guys I reckon so. I was thinking of hitting north entrance for a big bream\small jew fish but I could do worse than spend a few nights chucking big worm baits out up there too. Any beach chock full of pippies like that has to fish well I'd think. I was talking to a fellah who was practising his worming there on a couple of days and he didn't even seem too enarmoured of the beach, liked to try a few a bit further north. Birdie is about as far north as I can feasibly go, but yeah. all very fishy teritory and nice scenery too.
  23. Yeah mate totally over the moon! I mean I wasn't even fishing for the bloody things lol, size 2 worm hook cmon! Plenty of time and effort on the beach right time right place and plenty of luck makes me a happy chappy.
