  1. And keep going, jewfish, whiting, trevally...

Redfin, trout, and bass will also willingly take blades. TT's and Strikepro are the 2 brands that I use predominately, although Jaz, Buschy's, Koolabung and Egogear have all spent time in the tackle box. A welcome addition to your tackle collection I reckon Geoff.

  2. GENERALLY, lure fishing is done whilst drifting, walking a bank, wading ... something involving moving. This would render burleying pointless because you would soon move out of your berley trail. That said, if you found a likely spot and wanted to fish it with lures for an extended period of time before moving then it could improve the fish action.

    Good Luck!

  3. Well done Stu. Did you happen to sample any on the plate? Wonder if they are as tasty as the redfin here?!

Terrific report mate, but you didn't have to travel that far for a session on the reddies  Enjoy the rest of your holiday...you're a long way from the bass and Murray Cod!

    Cheers

  4. My pfd's (manual inflatable) seem to turn themselves inside out and the straps twist inside the loops so are a pain just to put on. Also really over the servicing aspect, what can be done to extend service periods perhaps puncture proof bladders & corrosion resistant fittings etc etc..

Good luck with it Mark - I reckon these things are under developed

100% agree mate. Twisted straps and the expense of servicing are so annoying that I have been considering a vest-type one purely to avoid all that. There are some great suggestions to date! The key will be to design something that can be worn in all types of weather conditions. The big plus for my current yolk is that it can be worn over a fishing shirt in Summer or a bulky jacket in Winter.

It sounds like you already have some terrific ideas in the pipeline so I look forward to following your progress. Good luck!

  5. Sounds like a productive weekend Dave.

Had a chuckle at your father's comment, as I have heard similar from my own ... with my response being a little more colorful than yours :chair:

    About time you posted again!

  6. G'day predator

    The fishers watch line

    1800 043 536

On this number you can leave a message so they can "get back to you."

Apparently it used to go through to actual fisheries officers which would be great to see again.

    Cheers Leo

Yes it does. My Uncle is a Fisheries Officer (here in Vic) and they maintain a roster manning a similar number. They respond to as many calls as they can and often provide the caller with feedback. It's a great initiative and one that I have had first-hand experience with regarding a fisho who was 'poaching' in our local waters in NSW.

Any assistance we can provide to assist them with policing their often expansive areas will be appreciated.

  7. Nothing new here as far as I can see? This ' C&R during closed season' issue has been around for several years. This is a link to a post I did in 2009:

    Bass and EP closure

This subject caused quite a stir on the forum back then so I visited Fisheries to confirm the rule. They also stated that there was no scientific evidence available that confirmed these species would not spawn if they had been caught and released with minimal handling. They cannot spawn in enclosed waters hence the exception to the rule.

    Cheers
