  1. Well done Kelvin and Tony, an excellent and informative thread with some good "outside the box" ideas. . Good to see the little ones getting into them as well. They're growing up quickly to be talented fishos in their own right. You should keep a copy of your threads to show them when they are older.

  2. Well done on the squid. Sounds like your getting as much fishing in before the little one arrives.

Do you go to the usual places or do you stay close to the lights. Got to get into night time trips, being a newby boater just make me a bit nervous.

  3. Went to the harbour in a guide boat Thursday. Caugth 5 squid and 2 taylor in 7 hours. (Purple boat) What a waste of time and money. All the guide did was ring people on his mobile phone and bag this site. Very disallusioned in Guided fishing trips.

Bad luck with the fish. I was the white boat that pulled up and spoke to you guys near the buoy. Have been with that guide 2 times and have boated plenty of fish. Sometimes you find the guides on the phone trying to track down where the fish may be biting. Found him to be helpful with tips, you just have to ask questions. Still trying to improve my squidding (with little success) but seeing someone else do it ihelps

Thursday was tough I didn't catch any fish either but thats fishing. Think with the cold weather coming in and the full moon the fish are being a bit finicky.

The prices are steep bit I worked out that it probably cost me $$$ for the day out with petrol, trailering the boat to and from the ramp, lost jigs etc, so for 7 -8 hours fishing with a guide I don't think its that bad.

  4. After being landbased for the past month with boat service, exams, assignments, this saturday will be my last exam for a while, so definately heading out on the harbour on Sunday no matter what the weather is like. Reading to many good fishing reports and I'm missing my time on the water.

    See you out there.

  6. My Daiwa certate 4000 has been nothing but sensational. It catches everything from squid , flathead to kings, bonito...everything.

Kelvin, how do you rate the 3500HD compared to the 4000. I'm in two minds between the two. The 3500HD has the same pulling power as the 4000 however is smaller and lighter.

    Cheers
