  1. Dunno guys, give him time! He's got a lot of good young blokes coming through.........Rome wasn't built in a day!
  2. Mate, unfortunately don't think there's too many trout in the Yass anymore, you may be lucky and find some where it goes into Burrinjuck! You will find plenty of Carp (yawn), probably your best bet with them (as mentioned) is corn under a float or bread, dough or even a garden worm! There are Redfin in Burrinjuck, but not sure how far they venture back up the Yass River, but if they do I would be using a flashy type lures worked vigorously. You may have to keep moving until you find a patch, but when you do you will get a few! Years ago, used to get some beautiful trout in the upper reaches of the Yass, but like other places the Carp took over Good luck.
  3. Toss up between Greg Bird, Paul Gallen &n Anthony Whatamouth..............all 1st class grubs!
  4. Totally agree with that comment. There's a reason for everything and you're on the money with your views Juggs!
  5. Yep, agree rock cale and wirra.................and definitely both rubbish !
  6. Great interpretation there meg126. Burley king doesn't realise whats down the track for him eh lol
  7. Mate,I'd be getting the paint matched, otherwise you may find that if you buy the exact colour from Telwater or a quinine dealer, it may not match because of fading over the years!
  8. Kiola ramp is fine as long as there isn't too much swell! If there is it can be a little difficult for normal passenger vehicles, although the rock wall does give some protection! Like a lot of ramps, it has a resident population of massive rays!
  9. They all have their positives and good parts, guess it also depends whether you 'like' the presenter of the particular show. Some are great, others can annoy the cr*p out of you! As others have said, you will probably learn something from every fishing show you watch, cos there is always something we didn't know or a better way to do it! The only thing that people need to be aware of is that its not always what it seems when you see a segment about a particular spot. It may be somewhere near you or somewhere where you have always wanted to go, but its not always as easy as they make out! Sometimes they can film for days and days on end just to get that particular fish, or to even catch a fish!
  10. Interesting story, but I wouldn't have thought Great Whites live in enclosed waters!
  11. Thanks for the replies guys, I will give Honda a buzz and see what they say!
  12. Thanks for the reply Huey. This motor has 3 intakes, the normal 2 where the muffs sit over plus a 3rd one higher up, this is the one they are saying to tape up. My assumption was that by taping this one up it would give a stronger water flow! Do you think this would be a correct assumption? Dave
  13. Hi all, I have just purchased a new boat with Honda 30HP motor, and even though I have had many boats over the years, this is the first brand spanker I have ever had and want to ensure I do the right thing maintenance wise. With previous motors I have used muffs to flush after each time in salt water and never had any issues, however after talking to the selling dealer, reading the Honda manuals etc, I am a little unsure of the what method is the best way to flush after salt water use. The dealer told me that if I use muffs, I must 'tape' up the water intakes. He didn't think that this was the best way. I asked about using the screw in connector on the leg, but he also didn't think that this was a complete method! He suggested just to use a drum/ container to drop the motor into and flush! If that's the case that's fine , however as my trips to the coast involve about a 4 hour return drive, Its probably not that practical to carry a large drum with me unfortunately! I have read about flushing bags......has anyone any comments about these? I would appreciate all opinions/thoughts on the best way to flush my new Honda. Comments from fellow Honda owners would be most useful too. Thanks Dave
  14. Geoff, thankyou for your reply. I have checked out the Tectyl & Valvoline sites but sometimes its more valuable and accurate if you can seek personal experiences & opinions. cheers Dave
  15. Hi all, newish newbie here Having just bought a new boat motor & trailer was wondering what this tectyl is actually like once applied to the trailer! As in, is it slippery etc, Is it oil based? Cos I like to sometimes walk down the trailer to retrieve the boat, particularly if the ramp is slippery, but don't want to discover that the trailer has become a slippery slide after having been treated with this product! Interested to hear comments Thanks Dave
  16. I've tried slimeys quite a few times in the smoker..............being an oily fish and strong taste, they come out very nice indeed!
  17. Mate, used to use Ford fenders and Cow bells for many years in Eucumbene & Jindabyne years ago. They are ok, but can be a hassle as they create a fair load on the rod, and if you happen to get them wrapped around a tree or the like its not much fun! But having said that, they did work and caught fish, think its the noise they create and also the flashing attracts the fish. I used to run a mono leader out the back of the fenders at least 3-4 metres. You wont get a lot of depth out of them, a bit more if you use a deep diving lure, but I mainly used tassies and crawdads! It will be useful if you have a decent sounder so that you can see whats coming up, cos as I said if you get them caught up on something, its a pain! Leadcore line is another option, particularly if you are looking for depth, as is using a sinker called a 'downunder', which you use in front of your lure! Good luck and let us know how you get on mate. cheers Mullatt
  18. That's fantastic NEEDTOFISH, exactly the info I was seeking! Really appreciate your assistance, it is most welcomed. cheers Mullatt
  19. Have done that............thankyou!
  20. Well, what an absolute ripper of a site! Everyone has been so helpful, its such a pleasure to be a part of such a group! Thanks everyone.
  21. I guess everyone uses plastics and lures on this site.......hence the deathly silence in relation to bait gathering at Forster!
  22. So nobody from that area or got any clues??
  23. Mirage Apartments on the Tuncurry side!
  24. Greetings all, newbie here! Hope I'm not either in the wrong forum or the area I'm asking about isn't covered by this site, but here goes anyway! Heading up to Forster soon, and even though I have fished there on many occasions, have never pumped any nippers. Is anyone able to shed any light on where I might be able to get some nippers there? I will have a boat with me, so it doesn't have to be shore based. Thanks Dave
