  1. Hey Allen,

Nice to see you back on the boards!! Where you been fella??

Brother-in-law is happy with his new Daiwa Dual-speed Sealine, but for the money the TICA looks great and has all the bells and whistles. Have only heard anecdotally regarding performance, but apparently very good quality reels if you can get them offshore at better prices.

Ridiculous that the Australian distributor should be so greedy on mark-up compared with places like Singapore. TICA don''t really have a name hear yet, and will struggle at the current prices I think, without some serious endorsement at least.

    Rgds,

    Byron

  2. Yeah this colour coded braid is top shelf stuff, but available only in the heavier line classes. I have not yet seen it available here, as it has been designed with the Japanese market in mind....think those Daiwa Saltiga guys, jigging 400gm Sea Rocks in 300M + of water!! :-rod (only without the smiling face!!)

Effectively, it is dyed a different colour every 10 metres, so as you free spool out your jig or bait you can see how much line has been fed out and thus confirm the depth at which you are fishing.

Not sure if it will make a difference to my fishing but was keen to give it a whirl.

As I say mate, would be happy to show you the combo whenever we can manage it.

    Rgds,

  3. Hey Adam,

Take a look at the TICA range of lever drags mate. I picked one up from a store (SG distributor) in Singapore 2 months ago, and it is an awesome piece of kit. They are distributed here in Aust by Juro I think, however they have an enormous mark-up on them compared with Singapore.

My plan is exactly as yours, kingies and other pelagics. I have it spooled with 50lb braid that is colour coded each 10M so you can see how much line you have out. Apparently the Japanese deep jigging freaks have developed this idea and it is a winner in my book.

PM me for details mate as they are prepared to ship here if required

Just a thought mate...hope I haven''t added further to an already difficult decision!!

    Cheers

  4. Cheers GI and Rick,

I guess I will keep my eyes peeled on all fronts!! :-rolleyes

I understand that Bream boats will be in short supply, but it seems also that many are being traded for bigger and faster machines.

Hope that means a few bargains will slip through to the likes of me who are not looking at the latest and greatest, but rather something at an entry level. :ohyeh:

    Rgds,

    Byron

  5. Cheers guys,

I thought that anyone wishing to sell a bream style boat would logically save some cash and post on one of the websites, in the hope of finding a new owner.

If this was unsuccessful then maybe Boatpoint or Trading Post would be considered.

Will check out the sites you metioned and see what i can find.

    Regards,

    Byron

  6. Quick question??

Having heard that both Mark Mangold and Bill''s bream boats have just been traded/sold, I wanted to know whether these boats and others like them are offered for sale anywhere on the net??

Any thoughts guys as this is one area I would like to investigate before committing to purchasing a new machine.

    Cheers

  7. Can anyone please tell me the disadvantages I have over a bream/bass boat??

I still like to flick sp''''s and dont find it a problem. One day I would like to also own a bream/bass boat.

Also has anyone fitted an electric to a boat like mine??

    Hey GI Joe,

See my comment on Mick C''s Stacer Nomad 460. He has a bow mounted leccy and it has no problems.

His unit is actually a really good compromise for all inshore work.

  8. This is a big question of compromise Bluefin.

Being close to the waterline makes sense in a still estuary environment, but open water/inshore work requires a little more in the way of water clearance.

I know for me the ability to tackle both areas in safety is going to be of paramount importance so high sides are a must....within reason.

As a point of note, Mick C (the champion bream tourny angler on these boards) runs a Nomad 460, which is a more traditional side console Stacer with higher sides than most of the Hornets/Edgetrackers etc. I can vouch for the comfort of this boat in open waters, for both handling and spray deflection, and his catch record speaks for itself!! :fisho: :fisho: :fisho:

  9. Hey Steve,

This looks awesome mate!!! Must not have checked it out too closely when I last saw you. The carpeting and lockers look first rate.

Makes me question my initial thoughts on the poly not being too pretty. :D

You are talking my language with the cash issue mate. Hard to justify the extra $$$ for a glass or tricked up alloy boat, as much as I would love one!!

Also, what were your thoughts around going for the tiller steer option?? I am pretty keen on the side console, but maybe I have missed something??

Chat to you at the next socail if not sooner mate.

P.S. which dealer did you get yours from and were they keen to strike a deal??

  10. Hey Steve,

    Sorry mate, no offence!!!

Having seen your unit up close, I realise that with a little TLC they can come up looking a treat (like your neat set-up). That said, it is hard to beat the clean custom painted lines of some of the glass and alloy boats.

I really like the way you have finished yours in carpet and covered the plastic lids.

I will need to have a chat with you about how you set yours up. Nothing better than getting advice from someone who has already seen what works vs. what doesn''t.

Look forward to catching up for a yarn....will need to do the same with Dave W.

  11. Yeah I hear you on the boat/car issue Swoffa and Joe!!

Luckily for me I have just started work at ANZ so the financing should be good, and I can package the car still so save a bit of tax.

My thoughts are to not spend quite so much on the car (hmmmm but temptation is hard to resist), and fund the boat with the money I save.

My project plan suggests 2 months minimum before I will be in a position to place an order on a boat........and patience has never been a virtue of mine!!!

  12. Thanks Swoffa,

was just reading your post....you hit the nail on the head with your comments about Hornet bashing!! The Stessl guy in particular seemed quite vocal in his views.

Will have to check out the Elegant. Not sure I have heard of these before.

I agree the Clark/Stessl seems a nice boat for the money, but I rreally like the 460 Stacer with its 3 person bench seat that folds down for an almost complete flat deck!! Pretty good idea I thought.

For the cash though, it is hard to go past the Poly though. Just not the prettiest boat on the water but having been on Dave W''s boat they sure ride nice in the chop!!

Looks like I have plenty of thinking to do yet

  13. Spent a leisurely 3 hours down at the show last night, and left drooling like a dog in a butcher shop!! :P

Have just begun the task of reviewing the current crop of Bream boats and the Boat Show was the perfect place to start. Ended up with a short list of the following:

    1. Stessl Edgetracker 435 Pro Tournament

    2. Polycraft 4.1 side console

    3. Clark 440 (made in same factory as Stessl)

    4. Stacer 460 Tournament Elite

Have i missed anything anyone?? I am not interested in a Hornet and I am restricted to boats of less than 4.6M I think due to limited access at my terrace in Paddo.

P.S. love those Full Boars Billfish, they are an awesome looking machine!!! They have 3 boats at the show on display.
