  1. So, they were Dad's tyre marks I saw there! I tried retrieving my boat from the other side of the ramp and got bogged before I even put the boat on the trailer. Got pulled out by another bloke with an X-trail, too, who was waiting for the tide to come in. It was going to be a long wait so I drove my wife back to the cottage and bought a $5 shovel on the way back and we cleared some wheel tracks. Got out OK in the end. Bad day for us (wife had a banana on board!). I got 2 nice flatties but no good outside.

I know the ramps were shocking !
  2. G'day raiders

As the swell was flat my brother, my dad and I headed off to the boat ramp but the tide was so low at the ramp, the sand was covering it and because we were towing in an all wheel drive, down sink the wheels in to the sand!! We were bogged!

After a bit of help from a fellow fisho we got out! Dad was releaved and provided the nice bloke with some spots to fish as a thank you!

We kept our heads up and were heading to Broughton but as we get to the heads the wind picked up and chopped the water so we changed tactics and headed for some flatty! We pull up to our spot and were swept off the bay so we moved to another spot which was a little windy and still had the wrong drift! With two small flatty caught and the sun fading, we changed tactics again and headed to our snapper spot off corlette anchorage. It was first drop with a pilchard tail and off the line went! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. We thought snapper then after a nice fight, we land a 50cm snapper. This is a PB for me!

After that we couldn't keep the anchor on the floor so we decided to pull up and head home

All up, an alright fishing session :)

  3. Great report, Scratchie Jnr! We got out so late and only fished for half an hour or so after we saw you as it was getting dark and I am new to the Soldiers Point ramp (it could do with more lights) and that part of Port. Backing the boat into the tiny space at the beach cottage we are renting turned out to be a little tricky in the dark, too! We will be back out tomorrow morning for a serious crack at them... and I will have some gear ready for the long tail! :)

Thanks to Dad for the tips, too! You had some cracker fish there, young man!

    Cheers,

    Baz

Yer tell me how you go ! :)

  5. Cool,

I'm staying up at Wanda over New Years, what are the chances of land based fish?

At high tide your a chance of flicking plastics of the beach or live potty mullet unwaited!! Or just prawns of the rocks!
  6. G'day raidars

After taking the day off school for representative football and knocking off early I persuaded my dad to take me out fishing (as usual).

We hit our spot at the steps at fame cove but we didn't manage a fish ! But we did spot the long tail busting up as we did not bother to chase as having the wrong gear :( . We changed tactics and headed to the beach off soldiers point jetty. The first drift was not that successful with the wind blowing so we decided to head off to Wanda headland and hope to be a bit more protected.

We got there with a beautiful drift and new we had a big chance of a flatty! Out casts the first line and bang ! Dads on pulling up a nice 38cm flatty. Then dad proceeded to pull up flatty after flatty, with seven flatty caught.

With several flatty caught I start to get into the action bang!! With beautiful netting skills and beautiful winding in up comes a 57cm flatty :)

As the sun started to die down the bites dropped off so it it was time to pack up and head home.

On the way home we ran into fellow raider berleyguts and suggested a few places to try, hope he did well.

When we got home we divided up the flathead that we caught with some going to my mate that come with us and didn't catch any, our next door neighbor and some for us. :)

    Thanks for reading!
