  1. Ha yeh! I made the Central Coast Express a few months back (with photo..) with. 2.2kg muddie......catch of a lifetime, but last week they reported (no photo) a 6kg model.....!!!!! Research tells me they max out towards 3kg.....SENSATIONALIST MEDIA....!
  2. Hmmmmmm............ how good does that hole look in front of the lake Ray? I can just see it from my deck but it's just so bloody COLD!!!!!!!!!! Regards from Rubes
  3. Good old Patonga Creek! Can you believe the kids and I Fluked HUGE old man mud crab up there in Autumn, whilst wife jags a few mini tailor on one of those new disco coloured whiting poppers ($) Then after feasting on fat oysters and ousted king muddies' sweet white camp-fired meat, I lose the battle with a textbook big flattie two minute run at the creekmouth at midnight!!! I had the old girl at my feet in the moonlight, her shape shining in the silvery night as she had one more headshake for freedom snapping 10lb sinking leader like glass! I tell you, (and it wasnt the Coopers) I could not stand for five minutes as the adrenalin shot through my system my legs were a blithering mess!!!! What a buzz
  4. Good to hear you eatin' some flatties again Ray! Sea Pig will be back soon...............!
  5. Well at least it aint only me! Jewgaffer sounds right though Ray, deeper water holds the travellers....
  6. Keep pluggin' away!...................Rubes
  7. The Earnest Hemmingway style in which you pen your posts Jewgaffer is truly amazing! You are an inspiration. I seem to fall into the once a fortnight brigade as a result of young family commitments, but live 500m from jewfish territory, a Cenral Coast beach! Beach missions WILL be stepped up hopefully, but I would like to concentrate on sessions at The Rip bridge. Any tips on this spot? Have had a few half hearted attempts but need to get a bit more serious. Your info is great regarding rigs, is there any way of postig up some clear diagrams? I will study your guide more and continue to dream of breaking my jew virginity, thanx again for your lesson..........Rubes
  8. Still lookin for that cuddy cab, and still will be lookin until hopefully about Feb, when the funds should be possible.I have decided to initially go the standard two stroke so as to get a good boat. I really like the idea of a walk thru screen but only a few have this. Is it that good a layout? I'm not a big bloke but it sounds better than having to go under and thru the hatch for anchoring.! Anyone swear by their walk thru?Leak much? Do you think Bar crusher would put one in one of theirs? Is anything sacred! ............Rubes

    New Boat

I feel sorry for your friends and family who dont fish cos they aint gonna see you for dust/spray! Thats a beautiful boat...............
  10. Thanx guys for your inspiration and good advice. Havent had a chance to redrift Patonga with your map Ray but hopefully will over the next week. I look forward to picking your brain a bit more!Jewgaffer also, your knowledge seems intimate. I've a bit more business to do with that railbridge!
  11. Well the plan to rise at four was constructed wholeheartedly, but a penchant for night owlism, and a young family saw me up at half six! Mission was the flatty drift into Broken bay at dawn, high tide at nineish so I still had time. Sure nuff, launching into a stiff ten knot breeze I wasn't too confident. As I passed Box Head the wind was increasing but the swell was small so I pressed on. Nearly a K out I quickly changed my mind and thought I'd give Patonga a go. Hardly any wind, but no flattys (pillys, prawns) or plastics I'm afraid. I'm not sure exactly where to drift here, I tried in front of the creek entrance 50m or so. Anyway, I the pointed the 'Pig' in the direction of Brooklyn thinking I'll fuel up a bit but not before a quick fish at the rail bridge, which I have not done before. More action here but in short, two fair size bust offs! Ho hum, its a corker of a day as I read the paper in the surprisingly sticky Spring day. Wouldn't be dead for quids! Juno was full as I passed by earlier, but once the 'Pig' had a drink, I headed back in that direction, finally wind assisted. Lots of dirty water was rounding the point as I saw a few birds working the area. All previous traffic had cleared and soon after hurriedly tying on a shiny lure, had a small chopper aboard. One more and he is sent down as I also drop the pick. The first chopper is chopped, and strip baited, but along with the livie, is untouched. Soon after, a few boats turn up and my thoughts turn to getting back as the sun passes the yard arm.Its not good to use up all your brownie points in the one go eh!? So off I go, still hungry, but happy. I'd gotten up to the crossword puzzles, and back to lion Is. I must say that at this point the wind was #@%*@! full on, and starting to get a bit iffy with my foot or so of freeboard. For some stupid reason, I tried one last fish on the south side of Lion (the lee but not!) and for an even MORE stupid reason, sent the sand anchor down and subsequently lost it! Not my first loss of this nature I might add, what a fool! Off home with my tail between my legs and lo and behold, my throttle suddenly malfunctions and I'm reduced to about two knots straight into the wind and against the tide. Its a long trip home but I loved every bit of it! Fixed the 'Pig' today, she rides again............Yeeha! Rubes
  12. Always.........the net! They must have been interested so you are headin in the right direction......
  13. Good stuff guys! I spent a bit of yesterday in the 'Pig' out in the bay, but my results to yours is the old chalk and cheese. Not only empty handed, but Sea Pigs powerhouse had problems and I limped from Lion to Preety bch at about half a knot against both wind and tide (but I loved every minute!). All fixed today ready for the hols! Where rock face at Patonga? Flatheads are legendary beasts are they not? Cheers Ray, see you around Copa.........Rubes
  14. G'day Copafisher! A Copa fish club sounds good, could we hold it in front of the bottlo? Thanks for the invite, I'll definitely take you up on it, I LOVE snapper! My 7yr old boy would be keen as well if he'd fit. I drive a white rodeo with a coupla kids (came as options), and am fortunately fulfilling a mr mum role which enables occasional mid weekers (gents hrs), but I understand the importance of the twilight hrs.... Jews are my target as so far they have eluded me. Some kings would be nice also, but I understand the importance of patience. Hope to see you about.........Rubes

    Hardy's Bay

Ok, um, you can get nippers there......
  16. Missions out into Broken Bay with my son, hopefully gettin more than just flattys!
  17. G'day Hutcho! I'm round by the lake at the end of Copa dr. Sounds good for a fish in the coastrunner! I'm really a hacker but good for a laugh. Keep us posted and we'll catch up. I'm actually thinkin of hittin it early in the morn with a bud maybe drifting back into broken bay? Who knows and the night is young............
  18. Knew I should have done the bay instead of Brissy Waters. All I got was baby snapper.....doh! Sounds like combined experience is why you guys cleaned up today! Good stuff!
  19. Well how could you resist the weather at the mo, and with the missus workin and the kids at school, an impromptu solo session looked like the go. I hit the water at a lesiurely 10am and skimmed SeaPigs early seventies 4m Quintrex Premier hull over the ruffled surface of Kincumber Broadwater. She's gettin weary but still goes like a beauty with little weight. The wind was already getting up a bit, but this far inside the tide was still coming in.Anyways, I reach my fave spot next to some racks, set the pick and start baiting up. Twenty minutes later, with two light set ups, one medium, and a coupla handlines out, I start reading the paper. Suddenly my sons little graphite set up was doin the dance as I pulled it out of the holder and jumped on the drag as the fish did the bolt! He peeled off ten metres or so before about facing it back to the boat and then sideways! I gained back line as my adrenaline levels were really buzzing, this felt like a good fish, but he found some bloody hole or something and busts me offff.! Servo big prawn. Next action was repeated interest in a small strip of tailor by what could have been a trevor or another tailor, he was a bit too quick for a pos. ID. Three times I had him hooked but it was not to be. Then a 25cm squire hits another servo prawn and gives me another adrenaline rush with a half minute of head shakin runs this way and that before he is boated, and returned gently. Another smaller specimen arrives shortly after, before all goes quiet and I shift camp to spot B to feed the fish the rest of my bait. I drift through a fast running sandy channel with a bit of lead down, hoping to stir/wake up a few flatties, to no avail. Even the worm didnt get a look in! Spot C was my last hope, but the tide was now well on the way out. Things are quiet here bar a few small enquiries, as the day slips slowly past noon. Thoughts of fatherhood responsibility start to creep into my brain as memories of a few runs on light tackle begin to fade. I pulled the pick and chose forward on the ageing anodised Evinrude gear selector, opened her up, and speared the "Pig" into a fifteen knot Northerly across the sound, and back into life! I'm hoping to seriously upgrade my vessel early next year. As good as that will be, I'm gonna miss Sea Pig.............
  20. Sounds like you deserve it, good luck! theres always the return flatty drift...........!
  21. Look guys get it together, if you spend any more than thirty bucks on polaroid sunnies that are available in any servo or chemist, you are infringing on your tackle budget!
  22. Fluorocarbon leader sinking low viz is the go for the stealth factor..........................
  23. Good flatties on the drift in Ettalong channel.............to half tide rocks, or any land based around that area. Good luck and welcome.........
