  1. Like the way you put your hand so close to the mouth
  2. Most of the fishermen I see tend to use their commonsense when fishing. If the swell looks bad or the location is bad, they come appropriately attired. DPI officers cant be everywhere and the only way a police would end up fining anyone would be post an incident. I've seen neither at my spots and I don't think they even visit such places. I've seen more tourists and kids jumping all over. Some even high. More people hit the beach at unmarked locations and take more risks and ultimately get in to more trouble. I don't really see how making it mandatory to wear a pfd when fishing would work. Heck I know this guy who fishes without a licence. I think the key to this is more information distributed. If you see some one, doesn't matter if they cant speak English but try and get them to understand the need for safety That said I saw this chap fishing on the rocks with me wearing thongs and the swells were bad last weekend. I should have mentioned that this was not safe but somehow was hesistant. We can educate and the authorities can do their best but as adults we need to make our own decisons. Just about everyone has access to the internet and is aware of these issues
  3. I set up the rigs, the rod, the leaders and all she does is puts a small bait and Bam a decent size trevally and all I kept catching were Sweep. Maybe it's because she can hold it straight longer without fiddling with the rod constantly
  4. +1 So many beautiful uncluttered places down south
  5. Nice catch. Might drive down sometime next month to try locations on the coast . Last month was fishing off Narooma and end of the night crashed in to a wallaby on the way back.
  6. Around which area are you planning?
  7. Pool noodle = cheap, less tangles and decetly visible when fumbling in the dark.
  8. Somehow I missed this topic but here goes. Wife set up this acct for us Shes Ven and I'm Joe Dee (2nd part of the name). Am based in the Ryde area and love fishing for a good feed as nothing better than fresh fish. Mostly I come online to check out what people are up to as I'm new to fishing in Aus. Used to fish loads in the U.a.e with my uncle but now here am mostly land based. I keep driving up and down NSW searching for spots to fish including going as far as Bermagui. Used to frequent Narrabeen after spotting what looked like a decent king fish from ocean st bridge however only caught leather jackets there. Almost every weekend I head out to try new locations usually starting out at 4 in the morn. Right now I carry arnd a light rod, a medium and a beach Will be posting in fishing reports once I catch something decent as compared to the sweep, LJs and small drummers that I've caught so far
  9. Making the most of the bank holiday and plan to do some land/shore based fishing. Wondering if anyone is looking for a partner tomorrow or just some company. Am based in Ryde but planning to drive north towards the central coast and above unless someone has something better. Don't mind anywhere North or South as long as its good. I know its a bit late but this weather is driving me nuts. Pm me if need be
  10. Soooner......... I hope.................I missed out on this one with other commitments however would love to meet the others. Can barely wait for another one. Also putting up my hand if you need some volunteers to help out with anything
  11. Will try and look for a shop that has them so I can get a feel for them but they seem pretty reasonably priced online
  12. Thanks for the replies guys. Will look at the options mentioned. Was at Swansea on the weekend and nearly cast myself off with the rod on Sunday off the breakwall. Thankfully was also carrying my starlo classix 7' and went further inland after. Not planning on burning too much money but would use the proceeds of this K'shark towards a new one. Might atleast cover the line costs. Will check out a reasonable outfit and hope for the best. Wife uses a Catana 7' so I know its good quality. Think those nano graphite ones will be for when I can covince my wife that I am best or actually catch something bigger than the rock cods that I keep catching
  13. Hi All, Recently started fishing in Sydney and recently bought a beach rod from one of the local tackle shops in Sydney. Just some background, I used to fish with my uncle before but we used 7-8 ft all round rods so didnt really know much about beach rods. The one I have now is the Kamashark 12' 2pc which I can only describe as huge. My hands barely go around the base when casting and I stand at 5'8. It feels really heavy and I think it feels like casting a long metal pole. Was wondering if this is nornal assuming its a fibreglass rod. Shoulders are killing me but they do feel a bit more useful when I need length over rocks. Should I get rid of it and go for something lighter? Plan to target king and salmon but don't plan on casting over major swells. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it. Thanks
