  1. Hey Raiders, I'm taking a mate out on my tinnie in the bay to introduce him to the world of the ever addictive SP fishing. I have fished the bay plenty of times, however with a couple of little ones , work commitments and of course the minister of war and finance, my very precious fishing time has always been military planned and implemented around the few hours of the tide change. With My mate having the same fishing roadblocks to navigate as me, the time we can both get on the water is going to be right in between tide changes.....basically still water...now it has just occurred to me, out of all the times on the bay, I have never actually fished In between tides... So, my question is....is there any spots that do/don't fish well between tides.....I'm not after secrets, just a little advice....do places like towra, Brighton , dolls point, the bridges dry up when th tides not running ? Or am I better heading up the George's and trying some of the usual spots up there ? Appoligies for asking, but my mate has a couple of youngs ones too and they are bugging him to take them fishing, the only problem is, he does not how to fish...lol....so he has come to me to show him the ropes.....so with only a few hours on the water to spare, I need to be productive....hopefully, Anyway, I will reply to this post with what I find and it may help other raiders out when planning their attack... Cheers Pete.

  6. Bungs...Yes..been there ! Planned a trip out in bay on my tinnie. Checked boat and engine the night before...mmm, need pertrol. Took the petrol tank out and drove to the servo to fill it up. Next morning, get to the boat ramp with my brother, launch and get about 400m from the ramp and yep - engine splatters and stops..no petrol tank...lololol.... Thats what happens with minimal sleep and 5am starts...
  7. Hi Raiders Could you please add me + 1 This will be my first social, looking forward to it...if I even manage to catch a fish, that will be a bonus ! I live local, so happy to help/bring anything that is needed ! Regards Pete (Hutts)
  8. Hi Nudge, I have fished around that area a fair bit recently (from a boat). Whislt I have had some great days on the plastics in the past, the last 4 times out, bait has outfished plastics each time by a country mile in that area. Im no expert and dont have the answer to why, but my theory and advice is - persist with the plastics, but stick to what is working to catch fish nice bream too. Hutts
  9. Hey Raiders, My brother an I thought we would spend Anzac Day on Botany Bay . After getting my fishing pass signed by the we launced at 6am. Flicked a variety of different colour and sized SP's around for about an hour with no luck, only one strike, but no hook up - so we gave that the flick (so to speak) and out came the bait. Pilchards was the chosen bait and out it went, after the second drift, my bother lands a keeper flatty. A few more drifts and a few strikes, one undersized flatty landed. The wind started to pick up and (as always) one last cast before we kicked the engine into gear and head for shelter. My Penn reals it hit and there is some nice weight at the other end. A nice little (6lb - no leader) fight was had and a couple of trips around my tinnie as the thing tried its best to do my under the boat. My brother done a great net job and a nice healthy flatty was landed We moved to calmer waters and another undersized flatty was caught then we called it a day (well morning anyway).. I noticed that all flatty's caught were quite fat, even the undersized ones..must be plenty of food in the bay. Anyway, only 2 keepers, but enough for dinner with a couple of ........lovley Cheers Hutts
  10. Hi Chris, Im glad the outfit looks good in the picture, but it is nothing all that special - it is a pretty cheap setup - It is a 7ft 2 piece Shimano starlostick rod 2-4kg with a 2500 PENN real spooled with 6lb fileline. The won't even let me "say" the name G-loomes ! ! Peter Im not too sure of the names - but there was a bridge to my left that led into a canel, so I would assume that is Hawthorne Canal. I was up to the right of the bride past the wooded whalf, where the current runs the strongest ! Hi Dicko I am currently in Melbourne, so I am going of memory - which is very low at the moment ! It was a stormy squidgie flickback in the stormy colour and I think it was 85mm ? I use both 85 and 100, but im sure it was 85mm. I think it really just comes to being in the right place at the right time and a big bucket load of luck !
  11. Hey Raiders, I have been reading reports on this site for a while, however this is my first post. Went for a morning landbase flick at Iron cove around Rozelle with my brother on Saturday . Arrived at dark and not much action to begin with accept for a small undersized flattie for my brother. The light started to arrive and bang, my reel starts spitting of line at a pretty fast rate After a short but extremly fun battle, a nice 36cm (approx) bream appears . After a quick snap, he was released to fight another day ! My fist bream on a lure and a nice one to start with (for me anyhow !). Caught on a squidgie flickbait attached to a snagproof jig head tied on to 6lb fireline. We got a couple more little flattie and then we called it quits ! I have added a pic, so fingers crossed it works ! Cheers Hutts
