Hi Whiskey, this should be in "The Aquarium" but I would guess its a Reef Ocean Perch "Helicolenus percoides"

Few common names there Tash. I call it a Ling, I think others call it a Beardie.
Museum calls it a Largetooth Beardie, not often big enough to eat. Nice white flesh.

Or another common name is a Saddle Tail Groper. You can see the Saddle on the wrist of the tail.

First one is a Sergeant Baker "Hime perpurissatus"
Second, most would call it a Blue Morwong "Nemadactylus douglasii". But It also has a few other common names.

My guess would be a Blue striped Goatfish Upeneichthys lineatus. Also colours change as well I suppose depending on their mood.
Don't get as big as a the Blacksaddle/Blackspot Goatfish.

First one is a Estuary Catfish "Cnidoglanis macrocephalous"
They have poisonous Dorsal and Pectoral spines .... and bloody hurt. So be careful with those ones.
Second one is a Blind Shark "Brachaelurus waddi"
Good on you for returning them to the water.

I recon its a Large Scale Saury "Sauria undosquamis" Also the common names have Grinner as Rick said and Lizardfish in them.
They have come up on here before.

and see if that's similar.

I asked the Boffins and because of the photo (Sand etc) the best they came up with was a Highfin Moray Eel,
"Gymnothorax pseudothyrsoideus"
Seeing that they are really good at stuff like this I'm going with that.
