  1. Thanks 4 all the replys I have to ask do we as publice have access to what are fines worth 4 boat Laws on the internet as I cant find a website that has it.I checked the marine time site but there doesnt seem to be any fixed prices. I thought I would be able to find a list of penaltys for boating offences. SSHIIT I hope my fine is only $80. Any one know. ADZ
  2. Hit tooth brush Island this morning, no fish what so ever, however water ways checked me out, Fisheries and breath tested by water police all with in 3 hours. I pulled out with a $80 fine for a unregersted boat from the water police what do you do. So people make sure all is up to scratch as it is easy to miss somthing another bloke that I spock to got a $40 fine for using his water to clean the burley off the side of his bout just before going in. I know its all for your own good with safty however with also having to have a new eperb by law soon which I dont know how much will cost , along with everything eles soon boating is going to be only for the rich, well I have my bitch 4 the day Hopfully I get a good payrise soon so I can keep doing the one thing Injoy but I dont like my chances. How did everyone eles go.
  3. Check this out This was no small seal it would of been the same size as this.
  4. Hi all Took a mate out to my favourite Snapper grounds to see if we could crack a Snapper of a life time and feel the esky with a good feed. Arrived at the X spot at around 2 in the arvo not my cup of tea I love the early start ,you know on the water before daylight. We berlyed hard for the first hour which bought the usal bait fish in (slimmies) how ever just as they arrived so did the mouten birds ,seagulls and Albertross. We couldnt get a bait down with out halming a bird or two,so we layed off the burly in hope they would all leave and not casting out to were the berly was holding the prize Snapper we fished strait under the boat which seemed to be a holding spot for dog sharks and portjackson it was still action reels screemin on light snapper gear.. About an hour before dark the birds all left and we started berlying hard and it wasnt long before my reel was screeming out Snaapper ,after a short battle I was about to land a nice Snapper in the 3kg range all of a sudden it just be came a dead heavy wheight so I give the drag a tighten and pulled some line in before It took off about 3mtrs away from the boat and this huge seal came right out of the water with my nice snapper in its mouth What a sight this seal was carring on like a marlin but with so much agression its hair on top of its head was all spicked up and the speed and strangth this beast showed (SOOK ME) and people are afraid of sharks!! It threw the snapper about 10mtrs in the air and I thought nice I might get this yet I reeled like crazy but the seal left it just beside the boat before it smashed it agian this beast of a animal was making a game of it finaly I retreved a empty hook and the seal was just doing victory laps around the boat. So we get our lines out again and with in a few mins my mates line screems snapper this one was a good fish we were just about to land it and bang the seals back so I pulled out the video camera and well I thought i was filming it all. What a show at least my mate had it on video that he cought a thumper of a snapper. Man if it wasnt the birds it was the seal that Iam sure was takin the pi#$ out me and my mate well this bugger wasnt going to give up so we did.I got home and checked out the video footage and I guess I just didnt press record I sold my tinny a while ago and up graded to a much bigger boat because I was out one day and a seal came up to the boat and I gave it a fish and took a few pics for the kids but then he decided he wanted to get in my boat I freaked and tryed to push him away with the butt of my rod which he just snapped in his mouth like a tooth pick I started the motor and took off with the anchor still down he was going to sink me I pulled anchor and the seal fell back into the water and I had to get home and put a clean pair of undies on. I was only worried about a seal tipping my boat but now I recken that would have been the least of the trouble. BEWARE OF SEALS MY FREINDS yes I know you here of shark attacks but seals dont attack do they well I dont care after what Ive seen I ant taking no chances.
  5. Hi all I use a few for fresh water and are great for castintg accuracy I used them in saltwater and now there no good for nothing. I wouldnt use them around salt water but for fresh water there great. thats what Ive found.
  6. Hi all I am sending a sample of the line back too the company how ever special thanks to slinkmalinky who has helped me out. Iam blowen a way with how helpfull the company has been and will deffinetly continue using platypus and telling others how helpfull they are in keeping a customer happy, which to me these days is worth every dollar I have spent on platypus over many years. Thank you all Thank you all
  7. Hi all I just bought 2 rolls each 300m 8lb Classic platypus when I got it home I noticed that the 2 rolls were diffrent colours to each other. When I placed a full spool on my reel it had heaps of little strands like spider web hanging off all over the line and abrasions in the line spaced out about 20cm apart. Should I trust this line or should I change brands I have been using thise line for years and havnt realy had any problems but I dont want to loose a Snapper of a life time because of poor made line. Its a fair price thats why Ive always used it but could it be time to change brands anyone have a comment?
  8. Hi all Left home around 4.30 this morning got to Ballambi boat ramp and was the 2nd boat there. The wind was harsh about 30,35 nots but the swell wasnt bad at all, so in went the boat and out we went. The first line went out and with in a minute we had hooked our fist snapper for the day, which was cought with a very small weight and a nice half pilchard. We burlyed hard for the next hour but only managed to pick 1 more Snapper up with in that hour. Around 11 we had 8 nice size Snapper in the boat all around the same size ,Then the anchor decided it had enough and let go. After that we were unable to even get the anchor any were near the bottom to grab so we moved right in off the beach and spent a hour there which was just a wast of time with the wind over 40nots. The strange thing was we cought nothing eles at all but good size Snapper. o

  12. Hi all I have tried the last 3 nights around my local area (shellharbour) with no luck so took a trip to coldale. arived around 8pm and baited up with baby cuttlefish, At 1030 i had a small tap on the rod then a very fast hard run, I let lt run for a bit then I set the hook I thought it was a large jewie from how hard and fast the run was but a few head shacks and a small battle I landed a 4 kilo Jewie. Sorry I have no photos we fished through to 2.30 and only had a few pickers. I have put a lot of hours into fishing for jewies in the last month so Iam happy I finaly got one. What do you think the best times are to fish for jewies also do you use burley, I didnt use burley tonight but the other nights I used bread mixed with tuna oil on the in comming tide and never even got a bite. Is it just luck or is there just a real art to reading the sighns to catch these tricky buggers?
  13. Hi mate I got there to late, you can get weed infront of the caravan park,or as you walk across the small bridge to the island.
