  1. Boys, Summer has passed and I totally forgot to go prawning! Im reading on another albeit crap Sydney fisho forum that you can get them in April but with all the rain over the last few months Im thinking Ive left my run (pun intended) a bit late?
  2. PBK Sounds like youre just having bad luck mate, I fish with my cousin who pulls flattie after flattie with SPs but is convinced he cant jig a squid. I am the exact opposite. Just keep at it, I pulled my first at Rosebay, just try and align yourself with a street light and weed beds as both attract them. Another spot is the board walk at Balmoral, fish inside the netted area. Ive pulled 20 + in a night. As we head into the cooler months you can try a safe rock spot with a decent drop off as they move into deeper (warmer) water in winter, keep trying champ youll be onto a few green eyes soon. Please ensure you never rock fish alone though, Id hate anyone getting hurt or worse from my advice. Happy to join you myself if the moons and leave passes align.
  3. Agreed I can't stop laughing at the thought of leather jacket chasing my poppers while I high speed retrieve it. I think my cousin is on the water today so hopefully will have some pictures of his catches. ..
  4. Yeah caught the squid about a month ago and froze so not exactly fresh.
  5. Love the before and after pics mate, you just needed to spray tan the after pic.
  6. Lads, had a quick session at Meadowbank last night. Got there around 20:00 and sent out a whole squid on my beach rod, Ive been practising launching heavy sinkers with it at the local park here in Parra and managed to get it past the second bridge pillion about 120m. Set the drag on that and stuck it in my rod holder. I got some poppers sent over from Korea recently so decided to try them out, I lost 6 poppers, didn’t feel a hit once just a flash on the surface and then no weight. I was so mad about that but decided to reel in the beach rod to check the bait and re-cast. The whole squid was gone, I had it gang hooked and the drag set reasonable tight?? My mate reckons it was leather jackets but I reckon there must have been tailor, what leather jacket chases poppers and resides in Meadowbank ffs? Especially when its fresh as it is after the recent rains. Apologies for the lacklustre maiden report boys, thinking of heading out this weekend to make up for it, chase my losses like a pokie addict haha
  7. Havent decided on a date but will have to be at night Friday or Saturday due to work and family commitments. Thinking of Balmoral as Ive had plenty of success there, I want to try bait fishing for them for the first time in addition to jigs. If youre interested please let me know here or PM me. Beers of course are on me.
  8. Gees I think I might be out of my depth posting with you guys. Mods where is the newbie section?
  9. Thats a lot of fish and chips...... I kid...I kid. Surpised that there are any that big there being so heavily fished plus my understanding is that they are territorial so she would have spent years around that area.
  10. Great catch mate, thanks for sharing the pics. While we are talking about idiots, I saw one bloke at Tunks park ramp put his tinnie in without the bunga, it sank fully below the water line as he drove off to park. So he gets a bucket and tries "bailing the water out", dude was trying to bail the entire pacific ocean out with a bucket. Wouldnt believe it had I not saw it with my own teared up eyes.
  11. Cheers mate, I may come up have my sister in law over from South Korea and have been struggling to find places to take her I think a good ole Aussie fishing comp is as Aussie of an experience she can get.
  12. Hey mate Not in Ctown but if you want to get some Carp leave the boat at home and fish the upper Parra river, just buy some bread and flick the line in on the western side of the Weir. Not sure how old your kids are but if young there is a great playground there to keep them occupied if they get bored fishing plus a nice rivers side cafe. Parking can be an issue on weekends but if youre keep PM me and you can park in my visitor parking, 5 minute walk to the river. Ill probably come along too. There are some thumper Carp in there plus bream, perch, bass and some weird mutant fish Ive pulled out. All the best
  13. Thanks guys, great site thanks for having me.
  14. Just thought I should introduce myself, firstly thanks to the admin for having me onboard. I look forward to contributing reports on my fish feeding expeditions as well as reading reports from you more sucessful fishos. When not hunting Parra Barra I normally fish around middle head and Balmoral, the latter being my squiding spot (I actually manage to catch a fair few squid). Apart from that Im always up for suggestions and meet ups, if any of you ever want to pull some huge carp out of the Upper Parra river let me know as I live 5 minutes away and am happy to give you a hand, my kids love it so bring yours down too if you want and we can make an arvo of it. Ill update this post with some pics of the carp we pull out (and throw in the bin) so it will be a report of sorts. Good luck to all of you, be safe out there.
