  1. My girlfriend used to go fishing with her dad many years ago, however never for blackfish with him. I said I would take her with me one day and that day was today. What a glorious day! A mate had chosen a really good spot, well suited to a beginner and out of the wind. Lis quickly got the hang of casting and was soon baiting her hooks as well. My mate got the first few fish, with Lis was patiently enjoying the fishing. Well, to say she was excited when she hooked a fish was an understatement! To then land it as well. . . there was a bit of jumping around happening! And not 'just' a fish, a 40cm brute! I dropped a couple, Lis got another and so did my mate. Things were feeling a bit grim for me and it was looking like Lis wasn't coming fishing again ? Fortunately I eventually got one, then another *phew*, Lis CAN come fishing again! They both got another each, so we finished up with a good bag.

  8. Cabbage weed is available on most Ocean rock platforms and is usually good for larger fish in harbour spots near the Heads. You can sometimes get string weed on the rocks too. Always take care and precautions when on Ocean rock platforms, never trust the sea!
  9. Farvos, yep they're good eating treated right and as a start on to how to catch em' . . . .. there's a great pinned post in the Fishing Chat section!

  15. Just plain inconsiderate and lazy. Doesn't take much effort to leave a place as clean, or cleaner, than when you got there.
  16. Nice looking fish Ryder, good to have a private spot for fish too!
  17. Sounds like you boys had a good w/e fishing and put some nice fish in the bag!

  21. Went for a fish on Sunday with a few mates not too far from the bridge on what turned out to be a glorious Sydney day. . . sunshine and a gentle breeze. The first place we tried was very quiet only one or two very tentative touches, so a decision was taken to make a move and try another spot. Well, that turned out to be a good decision with the bite coming on quickly and while not over the top, was consistant throughout the morning. The preferred bait for the day was cabbage and we ended up with 20 odd fish between us. I was lucky enough to catch 4, returning a couple at time of capture as they were a bit too close to legal size. When we finished up keeping about 12, returning the remainder to swim for another day. Mum had hit me up previously about bringing her a fish and it made her day when I dropped over the one I kept! cheers, stu.
  22. Dad used to cut up old 'bic' pens and use the tube after the ink had run out.
  23. That's pretty dedicated . . . waist deep. A good idea about a small net each, gives you a bit more independance. Nice to see another luderick fisherman posting his successed, a few that used to post regularly seem to have left or maybe are experiencing a drought.
  24. That's a nice haul there DYMan! Would have been busy time between catching and netting!
  25. What a good haul DYMan!! Sounds like you have a good spot out of the southerly. ? Bet you're glad it's not popular any more!
