  1. Hey All.....

Well during the week Steve, Crazy John and I had planned to go out for some kings today in the hope of catching some Squid and Kings for Johns Good Friday Dinner table.....

Looked at the weather last night and it said rain and 20-25 knot southerly.....nearly pulled out but i thought what else am i gonna do so i decided to go anyway...

Got a call from Steve last night and he still he was feeling crook and couldnt go so then John decided to bring his Cousin ( who is just off the boat mind you) who couldnt speak any english..

We hit the water around 3.00am and went to the squid grounds..It was windy as hell but we were there and decided to stay...Saw Miller on our way and he had caught well over 50 squid...amazing.....anyway we started to squid and started to get them straight away...over the next 90 minutes we had over 30 squid in the boat and Crazy John and his cousin were talking about a nice calamari dinner....

As the sun came up it was obvious how sloppy the conditions were....with a howling southerly and white caps everywhere we decided to move into middle harbour to give the kings a quick try and then head home as it was pissing down rain also...

Went to a reef i fish during winter and the sounder showed fish so we decided to give it a go....

Threw down a few baits and they got pecked away pretty quickly......

Went and worked another area for a while for the same results....lost around 10 squid to these peckers and thank god we had so many squid cause i would have been spewing...

By now we are pretty drenched and decided to go back to the original spot before we headed home

Threw down the squid and we got hit straight away......after a quick fight John boated a just legal king

A few more passes saw us get hit and lose the fish to spat hooks...

Stayed another 20 minutes or so and managed to get another bunch of squid pecked away and also managed 2 more just legal kings....

Then we decided to head back to the ramp and go home.....

All in all not a bad morning fishing...after handing out a few squid to a few mates on the water and geting pecked away we had 10 or so squid left for Johns dinner table and a couple of kings.

Not a bad morning seeing we were home by 10.00am

SOrry for the bad quality pics as my digital camera stuffed up and i had to use my phone.

Thats a big arrow! well done mate

  2. I have had a very good year!

Landed my first snapper on Sp's , that went 40cm in the (Hacking)

Landed my biggest lizard that went 74cm in the (Hacking)

Landed 6 kings in the bay, all legal biggest went 65cm (Hacking)

Landed my first Bonito on Sp's (Hacking)

Landed my PB whiting that went 42cm (Hacking)

Just about got the art of catching livies squid...

Landed my first Jew went 74cm (Hacking)

Caught my first hammerhead Aprox 1M (Hacking)

This summer would have to the best summer of all time for me, i have persisted, learnt some new things along the way and the most satisfying thing is all fish were landed in the bay. Which means they are coming back:)

  3. Why dont you try your local cinema?

I started being a candy bar/usher person that eventually made it's way into being a projectionist then I took

over as head projectionist for the cinema I work at which is a full time job now

You will find they are pretty flexible with shifts because most of the staff are at school and as a bonus you get complemntry tickets for whatever cinema you work in pay rate is pretty good and you would work with people around the same age as yourself

Im thinking of leaving my present job and want to work in another, i know that all places vary but did you find that the majority of you work at the cinema was on weekends?

  4. Mate any chance you can give us a report on your catch of the flatty?, that's gotta be close to 80cm :1yikes:

    Time

    Location (optional)

    Sp or bait

    gear

    the fight

    the celebrations....

you get the point mate, we like hearing stories on any fish caught especially a nice flatty like that !!!

    Ben

Yea i dont mind mate, this season has been a really good one for me landing my first Jew, King and snapper on SP aswell as some bumper whiting. Too bad i cant go outside and chase the bigger stuff

    Um was caught on sunset

Location, ill keep that one a secret but i got them in port hacking

The bait was nipper, i have found all season that nipper has been the most productive. Outfished live squid when the kings were around :o

Um i fish with a light combo, 1500 symetre on a burkley dropshot with 6lb fireline running through it, its good when i fish this combo, i chase rat kings and bigger ones in the bay. it can be very dangerous at times when i see the end of my spool ahah.

Fight is always a good one, of course the king fought better but it was different to any other king, just stright down and sat there like a dead weight, the flattie run wasnt much to write home about but still one of the highlights

  5. Yeh mate well done 2 top fish there.

Do you have a size and/or weight on the flatty?

Um the flattie was about 3kg

Did you get those in the Port Hacking?

Gunna kick Cronulla RSL's ass on Saturday

Yep i did, ahah i dont know about that!

  6. is that wharf public ?

how do you get to it ?

Lilli pilli baths is open to the public

Its right down the end of port hacking road

    What are you fishing for?

If its just bream ect... why not try a piece of slimy or squid?

  7. Headed up to stanwell park last saturday morning with the Mrs for a quick beach fish ...

She caught her first salmon and loved the it .. now she is hooked hahah

all in all we caught 10 nice salmon but kept only 3.. more than enough ...

Yea mate very nice, i wouldnt mind getting down there sometime. Does it get busy?

  9. Apart from that, hows the hacking been going for ya? And what bait have you been using in the past around there that works well?

Very good, SWA has been going well getting tailor and bonnies at the mouth and rat kings in Dolans bay, most of my fish i catch have been taken on Live squid, fresh cut squid or Yabbies.

  10. Sounds like a sweet session, where abouts on the hacking where ya situated?

Thats a nice healthy looking jew there too  Nice catches all around though it seems, 3.50am though *goes back to sleep*

Yea not bad mate, um we were at the end of Willarong road.

Yup waking up at 3:50 is very hard but its all worth it :1prop:
