  1. Hey Raiders. My name is Mark and I am 36, recently moved to Northern Beaches. Very new to fishing (4 months) and loving it. Site has been amazing for info and help for new people, it is a credit to everyone. Scientist by trade and work in pharmaceuticals (legal ones) now. A heap of travel which is tough but it funds the fishing addiction. Just started fishing off the Narrabeen beach, if you are around let me know and if i am not on a plane, would be great to share a beer while soaking some pillies. I am the big bloke with pillies on one rig in the sand, metal lure spinning with the other. Lutha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hey Hawkes Had an issue will a faulty snorkel fitted to my old troopy, had a gap and pulled water in it and wreaked the motor. Went to dept of fair trading arbitration, cost very little and got a rec motor at their cost. Might be an option, was 15 years ago though. Lutha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hey all Any suggestions on spots for land based squiding around Northern beaches ideally up north? Have searched and read that spit bridge can be done land based but not ideal. Thanks. Lutha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Yup, same reason they pull golfers during a storm. Be careful Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Hey Windy Good point, I normally throw one on at beach as well, never thought of it impacting the action. I always thought changing out the trebles would impact it too but seems to be popular. Lutha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Hey everyone Zero off North narrabeen at sunset with lures today, however spoke to 'Bill' who mentioned he had a few nice salmon this morning. Will head out at sunrise and see if I can get a few bites. He said that he swears by using Fluro beads on his leader, free running. Anyone else use these? Cheers Lutha
  7. Love to hear the thoughts as I find the same thing and only been beach fishing for a few months. I find it hard to pick gutters in the wash too, end up fishing around rips which is probably not the best spot. Thinking about heading out at sunset tonight and rise tomorrow, can't let the weather beat me any longer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. 9ft shore spin with 4000 reel, probably will only catch a nice sunrise but that's half the fun. No real logic for the choice! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks guys, got the gear so a night of a few beers and tying some knots ahead of me. After paying respects tomorrow will throw a few around after the service. Have a good weekend. Lutha. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks Windy, will have a look at the shops sunday and then throw a few around sunrise Monday morning. No idea what the beach will be like after the battering it copped. Have been readings, does everyone just use a fast retrieve rate to get them interested? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks mate, will take a look Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Hi All So, role change + lots of travel for work = less time to soak baits off the beach for hours on end. Thinking of trying to toss a few lures/slugs off Narrabeen beach (if it is still there after this weather). Have no idea where to start in regards to rod, reel, line and what lures people use around here. Any advice would be great on any aspect! Hope no-one has had their boats damaged and really hope everyone stays safe during this weather in NSW. Lutha
  13. Hi Steve I do the same thing, fishing with late old mans gear. Catching fish means nothing compared to firing bait into the sea from his Alvey reel, or catching a trout using a fly he tied himself. Enjoy every minute mate Lutha. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks for the tips, as a novice went with mono. Had a great time, just a running ball sinker but tried the paternoster as well. Only the noster pulled in a couple of tailor, no tape measure but they seemed small. Was up northern end of Narrabeen for an hour before sunrise and nothing until 30 mins after sunrise, maybe it was changing the rig. Why I wanted this long I don't know. 15. Awesome, appreciate it won't get out for a few weeks unfortunately. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks guys, looking forward to it sometime next week. 4myson I assume that's the leader, what main line do you use? Thinking of going braid? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks mate, what main line and leader do you use? Will need to look into how to get those worms. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Hi All After a few weeks trying Narrabeen lake, looks like I am hooked and think it's time for a crack at NARRABEEN beach. Thanks to the advice, had maybe ten trips out into the lake in the waders and picked up maybe a dozen flathead on SPs, best at 42cm. 8 on one trip but that's fishing. Have tried HBs a few times, however not sure the technique is there with the floating type, never got a nibble. Have the late old man's beach rod and reel, time to put some line, leader and tackle on there to have a go. Any suggestions on line etc?Anyone head out to Narrabeen beach regularly? I travel a lot for work but would be great to head out and chat over a few cold ones. Hope everyone had a productive long weekend, amazed at the amount of info in the forums, it's a credit to you all for first time fishers like me..
  19. Thanks Kooks, more than happy to throw a line in from the shore or yak. Budget would be a couple of hundred bucks and not too fussed which fish are targeted. Looking to relax and have a bit of fun. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Hi All Just moved to Narrabeen and have a rec kayak. Would like to start fishing in and around Narrabeen lake, but have no idea what rod, reel and tackle to buy. Any thoughts and suggestions would be great, first time living where it's possible to fish 5 minutes from home, after reading this forum, can't believe I waited this long. Appreciate it, hopefully it's a no brainer for the members of the forum. M
