  1. Gday everyone. The other day outside Swansea heads a large boat approx 40ft with a few levels hammered past my anchored small 5m freedom sport. Could have nearly reached out and grabbed the skippers hat. The wave nearly knocked me overboard. Gave the bugger a serve who just shrugged his shoulders and waved his arms in a cant give a stuff manner. I always slow down going past other anchored boats and give then as wide a berth as possible.
  2. Pulbah island is surrounded by water and a fair way from any other landform, Will need a boat.
  3. mate I see the seals often and get a real buzz out of seeing them swim around. Not overly impressed when they pinch my fish but.
  4. A Seal pinched a good fish I hooked on Saturday of Swansea. First time its happened to me. I managed to get the seal to the surface and then had to cut line to set him free.
  5. First time its happened to me mate. Have caught a lot of salmon around the 60cm around Swansea and it was a different feel. Heavier and faster. Have only caught rat kings also in past.
  6. Gday raiders Was out fishing of Swansea Heads on Saturday with my trusty Barra raider loaded with 20lb braid and leader. Dropped a pillie down and few minutes later the drag was screaming and I was finally on to a decent fish. He ran for about 100m and I had him turned and buggered. Had around 10m of line to go and could see fish outline (looked and felt like a kingie around 1 metre mark) when out of the blue a dark outline smashed my hooked fish. Though it was a shark and after a fight brought the bugger to the surface to reveal a bloody big seal. He was not letting go of the hooked fish and after contemplating giving him a whack with my paddle decided to cut my line and watch him laugh and swim away. Thats fishing
  7. casper clear soft plastics also work well on Salmon around Swansea. Run out tide normally best
  8. Hello everyone I have a Lowrance 5" HDI sounder which doesn't pick up fish arches well when fishing in depths greater then 30m. Have fished grounds where I know there are fish and there's hardly any activity on sounder. I have tried everything in menu, adjusting sensitivity, depths, auto adjust, transducer frequency, ping speed etc etc. It picks up structure and bottom fine so don't think there's anything wrong with transducer. Transducer is mounted correctly Works great in the shallower waters with fish arches picked up fine. I also went fishing with a mate who also has the Lowrance HDI sounder and he experiences the same issue. Does anyone else have these sort of issues and is there something I'm missing in the setup? cheers
