  1. Sounds like a good day Will. What type of work do you do till 1am in the morning? Any pics of the fish?
  2. I picked up my boat today after having the electric motor bracket welded onto the bow. I noticed that the bracket was on a bit of an angle along with the motor. The fabricator assured me he had done many and there was no problem with it. He also explained to me that the plate welded to the top of the bow of the boat follows it's contour and that is why it's on the angle. The bracket is strong enough and his workmanship looks good. Should I be concerned with the angle of the motor. Will it affect the way that it performs?
  3. Are you guys running a 55lb? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  4. What brand of battery? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  5. Yep, here I go again. What type of battery are you guys running with your minn kota or motorguide? I'm having the thrust bracket installed as we speak and next on the to do list, is the battery. I need a 12 volt battery. AGM is what I've been told. Was going to go with 120 amp hrs. Bloody hell, $680 through to $325. Whose using what and had success with what? I understand I will need a charger too and I think I will go with the overwhelming majority, a C - tek. All advice would be greatly appreciated. I didn't fish last weekend, but I'm going to fish this weekend with my new motor and I don't care how much it rains over the next couple of days!
  6. So as flathead said, I've had the bracket installed on the starboard side thinking that I sit on the port side at the rear of the boat and when I pull into wharfs and jetties I tend to come in on the port side. I also wanted to counteract the weight of me on one side and the motor on the other. In saying that, when I dropped the boat off this morning, the fabricator commented that I was the first to ask for the installation on the RHS. Thanks for the feedback guys.
  7. Hi all, which side of the bow do I mount my electric motor on? Does it matter at all?
  8. Sorry just saw it. Thats where I was looking too. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  9. Where'd you get the motorguide from? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks macca, I agree with the motorguide and that's what I've decided to buy. Tossing up between the 55 and 80 though. What did you but and what size is your boat? Where did you get it from? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks for the reply cargo. Have you had problems with the 55 holding your boat? Where did you buy from? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  12. Hi All, I am on the verge of purchasing a minn kota or motorguide for my 460 Dory. I was wondering if anyone new when the new minn kota was going to be released? Has anyone any advice of whether to buy the minn kota or motorgudie and should I wait for the new version. What model do you think I need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it is probably going to be a $2000 to $3000 investment and I don't want to do it twice. Cheers, Nathan.

  16. I'm in the market for one also. Similar set up with a Quintrex 460 Dory, 50 Etec. Is the 12 volt 55lb enough or should I go to a 24 volt. How easy are they to set up. Should I run a seperate dedicated battery at the front of the boat or utilize the main battery for the motor? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  17. Hi All, haven't had much luck flicking plastics up and down the Georges of late. The way the weather has been this week and lack of luck, I starting to wonder if it is just not worth putting the boat in this weekend at all. The fishing reports seem far and few between and I'm wondering if there are others out there feeling the same. Anyone having any luck in the estuaries on plastics? Anyone been fishing lately? 18. Thanks Greyfox, I've had a look at a boating map online and tgere are warnings all over it. Bar enterance to Brisbane Waters, open water regulations southerly swell.... Am I better off launching the boat inside Brisbane Waters rather than Patonga? I'm keen to have a good weekend with the kids, but a safe one also. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  19. Is there any particular type of swell or wind conditions i should be wary of? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  20. Hi Luke appreciate the info. What about Ettalong beach? I had a client once tell me it's good fun fishing the weed beds there for flathead? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  21. Hi time28, we're in a 4.6 Dory, but fairly inexperienced. I've been to Umina beach before fishing landbased and have seen it quite a mess. I'm lookong for advice on where to go with the kids for a bit of fun on a weekend away. We catch and release everything. I dont know the area or what tides, wind or swell to fish, or where. We're away for two days only and I'd like to make the most of it. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  22. Hi Luke, where is half tide rocks? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks for the replys guys. Is the ramp at Patonga the best to use? I've heard it gets rough in a southerly swell?
  24. Hi all, wondering if anyone could lend some advice. Heading up to Umina for a weekend with the kids and the tinny soon. Wondering if someone could advise which is the best boat ramp to use and where are the best spots to fish SPs for flathead. Cheers, Nathan.
