  1. Afternoon Raiders,

Had a spare few hour this arvo to chase some bass! After having a massively failed attempt last Thursday and a botched coast trip (due to the weather!!! :ranting2: ), I was keen to get into it!

I did some re con yesterday, and was set on getting some quality bass.

After a short drive, a brisk stroll and a quick game of hopscotch with some of the biggest cow turds I had ever seen, I reached my destination.

I walked the river getting a few casts in between trees and small openings with a Hairy Spinnerbait for an hour or so to no avail.

Changing it up, I opted for the SP+Spinnerbait combo with a faster retrieval, it did the damage!

Caught 2 just under the 30cm mark, dropping an additional 2 at my feet.

Photos attached as always, apologies for the stank face!

    Thanks for the info Rick!

I have read a fair bit on the oyster racks from other posts. Unfortunately the boat isn't big enough :(

Looks like I will be hanging around there.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

  3. G'Day Raiders,

Long time no talk! I've spent the last couple of months putting in a lot of land based hours trying to crack the Jewie on plastics but to no avail.

Anyhow, I'm taking the Mrs and the boat up to Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest on Friday and was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on where to fish?

I lived here a few years ago but way to busy slaying the beers to slay the fish :beer5:

Was thinking of a night session or two at the singing bridge in hope for Jew and possibly a lazy beach sesh for salmon but not sure where to take the boat.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Paul.

Hi everyone my names zack I'm 26 recently purchased my first boat and looking for a fishing partner my wife's 26 weeks pregnant and I wouldn't dare to ask her to join me lol, I only want someone who can easily catch 3-4 Marlins a day within a 2 hour period or don't bother contacting me ... Lol JOKES! I'm not really a experienced fishermen but just always loved to wet a line and don't have much mates who are interested in fishing so if you want to go out and target anything we can hook on. When you sit back and admire your work, you will come up with better and more ideas. It will never end( speaking from own experience)

Keep at it and before you know it you'll be able to sit back admiring your handy work with a nice cold beer after a productive days fishing.

    Cheers.

    That the plan Fab,

Although I think I'd be inclined for a few extra! [emoji1]

  8. Adsy91,

Hey mate, you can get an awesome tinny, motor and trailer for under 4k. I got lucky with mine. So far I have the material to do everything and it's looking like it will come in at under 500 bucks. If you have tools and are a good problem solver you will do well!

    Hope this helps!

  9. Got around to some more this arvo. What a challenge it was!!! Happy with the results. :)

Progress pics as follows. Raw timber was sealed, carpet was stuck down using 'Sikabond' contact adhesive and sides were stapled to finish... Phew!

  10. Good to see you have OCD like me :)

Looks great - but being OCD I would make sure the floor carpet was the same as the bench one :)

It will be in good time mate!

That's the original rotted floor that needs replacing.

I could never leave it in multiple colours lol!

    Cheers,

    Paul.

Camo, he was literally shaking. He has been talking about it for months but keeps changing his mind.

A tribute to the amazing things that can happen when you venture outdoors.

  13. Thanks Paul.

If spray is the go. I could also hire. Perhaps you can do a post on how you tackle the job??

I'm also wandering if it may be easier or cheaper to try a diy wrap is its gonna go as far as spraying.

If you could wait 2-3 weeks I'll add it to my 'Quintrex Fitout' post.

Were you thinking about just wrapping it one colour?

  14. Awesome report Paul!!

Great to see you finally got the old guy onto a few. Also great to see your still enjoying. For every unsuccessful trip there'll be two or three successful ones as we found out that one time. :)

    Thanks Matty!!!

I hope so, hope you are well!

    Paul.

  15. Gents,

Very important to strip all the old paint off the Ally. A bit of old fashion elbow grease, paint stripper and some tools should do the job. The alternative would be to give it a sandblast/sodablast/whatever they do it with now. Once you have a clean surface hit it with a high quality etch primer. Then it's just a matter of picking your paint, two pack or otherwise and adding the hardener of your choice.

Relatively easy to do yourself. I'll be painting my boat in the coming weeks. From bare aluminium though.

    Good luck!

    Paul.

  16. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to get my old man out doors to throw a line in, I was able to convince him somehow to go on ‘Valentine’s Day’. Or, maybe my mum convinced him that the best gift he could get her was solitude…. Either way it was good to get out.

The game plan was that we would be at the Nepean at around 7am, I eventually heard from the old man at around 8. The missus and I packed the car, headed off and eventually met up with him around 9.

My dad, (KG as we refer to him as) had a little pep in his step that morning. After recently purchasing himself a new rod he was determined to hook up! We headed out landbased around Yarramundi.

It was a very humid day, especially trekking it through all the dense foliage and undergrowth. The cicadas were humming and the river was flowing slowly, what I believe to be good bass conditions.

The three of us were making our way along the bank casting at structure and ‘fishy looking’ parts of the river. KG and Kat had spinner baits on while I wanted to sharpen up on my hardbody game.

It wasn’t long until the old man was on, only then to lose it at his feet. A few more casts and slow retrieves then bang, he was on again!

This time I ran over to give him a hand with this fantastic specimen of a bass (no tape but I estimate it was around the 27 mark). KG had a grin on him from ear to ear!

Although both Kat and I were unsuccessful, it was good to see dad so stoked.
