Howdy fellas Dont get too excited about the LC. The pros quickly hear when it is on and net the bejesus out of it. I live on Burns Bay and I can sadly report that it has been netted for two nights in the last two weeks. I just look out my window at it happening and resist the urge to cry. Cheers Brent

Definately time to get a canoe Jethro...no basser is complete without one . Martin - certainly is a beautiful place to fish, nothing better than taking a dip to cool off between fish... Day two we gave the river a rest but I still managed to hit a nearby lagoon for a few fish, my best was a 445 and Pete (my father in law) got a 435 (of course forgot the camera for this sesh). Day 3 Pete and I returned to the river of dreams and had one of those special days that shine strong in your memory for a long time...the weather was hot, the conditions were great, and we caught alot of bass! Amazingly for a river sesh, once again only one fish was below 300. The best for fish for the day were a couple of 370's, 365, a few around 340... and a stonker of a wild bass that went 450, ye ha! My fav old beat-up VT 55 with only a few patches of gold paint left went off today, with Nitro Whizbangers also accounting for a few As we pushed down toward the salt the fish got bigger and bigger..culminating in this supurb 450 fork that smashed my lure resulting in instant drag melting off the Alphas and my BD Crankbait working hard to keep the big fish from a snag complex This was truely one of the bulkiest wild fish I've seen.. In the rapids on the lower pools you could see hordes of bream racing around the river stones...a few unweighted bass minnows later I was sight casting to bream to top off an amazing day The only thing missing was the resident jacks turning up to party...oh well you can't have everything. Howdy people I've just had an awesome weekend of catching solid wild bass on my 'River of Dreams'... My wife and I made one of our regular pilgrimages north to Port Stephens over the long weekend to visit family (and of course go bassing...). After a few hours sleep we arose for the long drive Nth to the launch spot. The conditions were great as we headed up stream and started to catch bass after bass. Surface wasnt producing, it was all about Nitro Whizbangers and VT 55's. We continued pushing up rapid after rapid, each new pool providing new challenges...and fish! The biggest today was 350, but we only caught 1 under 300

The queenies probably werent as thick because these boys had moved in...matty managed to hookone in the corner of the mouth and landed a great spanish on light gear After a quick dash in the channel on the way back to the ramp we bolted back to Townsville to get me on my plane home..all utterly exhausted and with aching arms! Next day we left at sparrow fart for Hinchinbrook for the weekend. I had heard this place was beautiful, but the reality of what I saw far surpassed my imagination... We got out to the sugar loader...and all hell broke loose as mega queenies smashed our plastics as they tore back to the pilons.. We were getting fish like this every few casts, and when our arms could wind no more (and our Alphas' were about to explode!) we headed into the channel and russeled up some bits and pieces The next morning we were out to the loader again...the queenies werent quite as thick but were still big...

Howdy people Ive just got back from 4 days of superb fishing in FNQ . The first stop was staying with Matty (Junglejunky) in Townsville. First stop was the upper Ross river for barra, and boy, we were not disapointed, after a few near misses Matty put the first fish in the canoe (well it was too big to lift into the canoe!)..101cm of barra I also found a couple of jacks, but only 1 made it to the canoe Next day we met up with Tony (Barrymundi) and hit Blacks...more barra!

Howdy people, As I look down at my raspy 'bass thumb' it is good to be able to say that at last another bass season is under way for me. Mr Joe Crust and myself ventured out on the Hawksbury on Sunday morning in search of some post-spawners on the move. Things were looking grim for the first few hours with no perceptable signs of life. We rotated through different techniques until at last I got a 'tap tap' on a Ecogear VT 55 in gold (unfortunately didnt stick). We then motored down river a bit further and spotted a lovely looking bay, out of the main tidal flow with some snags in 30ft of water and a few shallow weed beds, basically it had bass written all over it. As we approached the bay I fired a cast in at a weedy point and slow rolled the VT 55 back to the boat. It was promptly smashed and a nice 39cm to fork skinny post-spawner was the result. As we moved further round the bay a 34cm and a 36cm to fork were added to my tally. Joe was then belted with instant drag being taken (unfortunatley no piccie of this one as it 'self-released' boatside). The last stage of the runout and the changeover period in the tide seemed to bring the bass on, and as the tide had now started to flood back in the action tapered off. I've caught plenty of fish on tea-baged poppers, but the crafty Mr Crust managed to tea-bag up a fish on a lipless crank and after that we called it a day. Yeah plenty of people use bass minnows on bass Joe. If I'm river bassing I often rig one weightless/weedless and throw it into a snag, works a treat. Cheers Brent
