Nice catches, I fish down Blackwattle bay all the time there are some good size fish around there. Haven't cracked a king on plastics yet it's on my bucket list.

Thanks raiders, yeah they go pretty hard and leap out of the water like a salmon. You use a wire leader.

Hi Raiders, thought I'd share a couple of photos from my recent trip to Africa. While in Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls thought it would be a waste not to take a morning out of the trip to get on the river and target some tiger fish. Results below taken on bait strips of tiger fish. Was flicking a rapala lure around but to no result. Was told it wasn't the season for top water lure action.

So decided to have a quick flick after work yesterday as the tides where good for Syd harbour around 5pm. weather wasn't great as only got half an hour until the rain came back, but was catching a few fish so thought I would stick at it. Glad I did cause after catching a few small snapper and bream on soft plastic got a big hit and the reel started screaming, tempted to tighten the drag but knowing I was fishing with 6 pound braid and 6 pound leader decided not to. it wasn't going to be a quick catch. Twenty five minutes later saw that shine of sliver slab nice 80cm Jew. no one around to lend a hand had to grab my lip grips out of the bag and get down into the water to get him out a couple of photos on the lie detector and a bit of dental work extracting the 1/8 size 2 jighead and plastic he inhaled still not sure how the light gauge size 2 hook stood up and it was back into the water to grow bigger. Had to give the missus a call to explain why I wasn't home for dinner she had cooked for 6.30 but was worth going out.

Fishing west of the bridge. But only catch and release for me. Afterwards i drove over to the fish market for some salmon sashmi and a beer lol.

Went for a fish this morning 7.00 to 9.30 land based. Wasn't expecting much with the rain and water colour. But to my surprise the fish were biting. Caught somewhere between 20-30 fish. 15 flattys smallest 25cm biggest 53cm. Most around the 35cm mark. 8 tailor only small around 20cm, 2 bream, 2 whiting small. Had a hard fighting trev get off at the last minute estimate at around 35cm all on plastic slim swimz in motor oil.

Hi raiders, heading out to Penrith this weekend to fish the Nepean river land based anyone willing to give out a couple of spots? Going to have 3 rods, one for carp, one for mullet and one for bass. Prob going use a float and bread or corn for the carp and mullet and flick a range of lures for the bass.

Hi raiders anyone got a good method of catching large mullet? I've seen some absolute monsters of late at my local fishing spot. I'm talking 60cm+ . I've been fishing with a push button float a split shot sinker and a mosquito hook size 10 with a bit of fresh bread dropping it right onto their heads but they just swim around it. Have caught a few bream but as by catch 30cm + but it's major dental work getting the size 10 hook out.

Went for a flick after work, keep the rods in the car and mostly fish plastic and lures. So if I have a spare 30 mins I'll go fishing. Had 4 pound leader on with motor oil grub and a 1/12 jig head so was targeting bream. Got a few small bream then kept feeling a bit or something on a slow roll retrieve but no hook up. Decided it was squid so threw on the squid jig and bang got one first cast. I fish with a rod and a back pack and don't lug a bucket or esky etc around so I can cover more ground till I find the fish not vice versa. So threw the squid back, looking at targetting kingies soon so catching squid will come in handy. Walked a little further around to a little wharf and started casting and retrieving with a drop and lift technique something smashed my plastic and went for a good run straight away had the drag set light so took a bit of line after that it didn't take anymore and came in easy the smallest jew I have seen but still a Jew.
