  1. Early morning when bugs on surface use poppers and jitterbugs

Get your self some stump jumpers or tailor mades and fish shady areas during middle of the day.

Dusk use poppers, jitterbugs and divers.

Bass are a great fish to chase especially river bass

  2. Hey guys and gulls,

i have been fishing st Hubert's and rileys island a lot lately.

i also had the pleasure to fish kincumber broadwater recently and dropped a very large flathead. The video is on the beer bush and boats face book page.

I have compiled a VLOG on one of my Rileys Island trips for those interested. It demonstrates what I do and use. Hope you enjoy.

(mind the rant about the guy throwing lures at my drone)

Hope to see you all out there!

Thats cool fellas, plenty of beers and boats, was waiting for the bush lol.

will check out your channel too.

re the flathead- did you say measure to make sure its below the limit? Whats your limit on size before you put back?

i release them over 55-60 absolute max depending on how were going. 45cm give or take are my fav size to keep.

also i like to keep them alive in well and then at days end release the ones that are too big. (To the same spot we caught them)

    keep it up!

you guys need an breath analyser onboard lol.

There is plenty of Bush don't worry.

The channel is based on a bunch of yobbos who share the same hobbys.

one of the hobbys is Banter. All the flathead were released. That day the biggest lizard we caught was about 50cm.

we appreciate your concern regarding the breathalyser how ever we took many camera shots of the same beer and manipulated our episode to embellish the amount of beer drunk for entertainment purposes.

I like the way you put your video content together Josh. Good aerial overviews to set the scene, followed by action and a relevant summary at the end. Good work. Looks like you do a bit of freshwater stuff too. Cheers, bn

Yes the aerial footage is the icing on the cake. It's taken several years to get good structure on my videos but the main part is I'm improving and learning for each video.

love freshwater, I am hoping to get put and film some inland freshwater soon.

  5. After my previous outing to ST Hubert's island I thought I would give it another crack. We picked up some nice flathead again. Around 46 - 48cm mark.

just as we were putting on our last few casts, our plastics were followed by some enournas king fish in about 2 meters of water. Unfortunately we only had really light gear but I would estimate these king fish to be 6kg plus. There were about 10 of them. Rumours are confirmed, the kingys are running early in the Brisbane waters.

I have also completed another episode of beer bush and boats available for viewing with the link below. Like and subscribe, we host one of the only good quality fishing shows with no ads and its all free.

  6. Over the October long weekend I went up to Lostock for an over nighter.

Trolling into the night we picked up around 7 small bass which were really fun.

The next morning we pulled in some rewarding sizes and were very content.

My trip was released as an episode of Beer, Bush and Boats if you have not seen it already.

can be watched on YouTube with this link.

  7. Raiders,

been a while since I have made a post but been out the last couple of days fishing Brisbane waters around st Hubert's. Plenty of flathead 40cm plus getting around.

using mostly gulps on 1/8;1/0 jig heads. Looking for shallow sand patches on the edge of grass sections.

Get out there and keep those lines tight.

  8. Well I took my mela out for a proper session and inevitably one of the 2 handle bearings crumbled. This involved me pulling it apart, measuring it up and purchasing a better one off eBay.

I could of sent it back to Krap king but by the time it would of taken for correspondence I simply measured and ordered a new bearing.

For those that are interested the bearing size is 7x11x3.

Other then the drama seems like a nice reel. I also fixed the back play issue. The little spring needed tightening.

Regarding brand name, I am a daiwa supporter, it's my makita, my Toyota, my Quintrex.

But I don't mind crossing the skeptical bridge and trying new krap.

  9. Hey raiders, thread maybe a good home for all kast king talk.

i purchased a kastking mela 2 4000 on eBay for a cheap price and I am pretty impressed. Along with some 'godline' braid it seems to cast smoothly from my daiwa aird 5-9kg.

My cons would have to be that instant stop has a bit of back play and the 4000 is smaller than a standardshinsnp 4000, I am fairly happy with the smoothness of the reel and I look forward to catching some fish. For a cheapy don't be skeptical. I would really like to check out the sharks and mako reels.

  10. Planned for an early morning fish on Sunday, and it was cold windy morning.

Drifting on a run out tide with some Berkley gulp grub plastics I landed 5 flathead and 3 over 45cm

i fished ettalong bars and off lobster beach.

Easy morning and I had the boat back on the trailer at 10.

  11. After another successful run up at Gil I managed to land some nice cod using the 3D rat lure.

this lure has a lot of action giving a life like appearance to unsuspecting humans.

after my second cast I decided for a fast retrieve so the lure dives and bang a nice cod. On the next day I landed one a bit smaller.

    both were released.
