    BIG REDS

Awesome fish there AEG. Was also down that way last week with 3 mates, fished out of Arno Bay Three days on the water Mon,Wed and Thur. The first 2 days the weather was very ordinary still we managed some nice Reds in the morning and in the arvo targeted the King George Whiting and Squid in the shallows. My best was a 94cm Red on a soft plastic, and a 1020cm Red on a whiting frame with 2 x 9/0 snelled. Once i work out how to post the pictures i will also put up a report.
  3. I Hope this info helps. The humps which are located just north of Stanwell Park have a depth on the gravel inside at say 50 metres. If you chose to fish outside the humps you will find the depth at about 55 metres. If you sound over the humps north south they will rise up to i think if my memory is correct 24 metres. I prefer to fish inside on the gravel, fishing on the humps or the hard reef is not the best option, unless you want rubbish species. So explore with your sounder and locate the edge of the hard reef. Cheers Taitors.
  4. Congratulations on the nice Snapper perfert size and a great way to christen the new boat. The fish are Maroi Wrase aka Butchers p---- and a common boot. You must have been on some hard reef to catch those two.
  5. March this year did a trip to the top end of NZ out of Houhora with a group of 8. We checked everything out with customs prior leaving and basicaly you are allowed to bring back 5 kgs per person as part of your luggage, must be fillets and frozen. We were able to buy small foam eskys which were ducted taped labeled with fresh frozen New Zealand seafood then we had to put in a plastic bag that Qantas organised at checkin and we were on our way.Of the eight i was the only to be checked on arrival in Sydney and the fillets were still frozen, so i hope this helps.
  6. Opposite Little Turriell Bay, then travel about 100 metres due west where you enter a very small channel which takes you up into Maianbar, i hope this helps, regards.
  7. Also new to the site and only joined up last week after reading such great reports. So i decided to join up and share some of my experiences. I ventured out from the Port due south to the grounds wide off Stanwell Park and anchored in 70 Metres with a raging current going south.Even on the pick fishing with Braid i had to use 1 pound sinkers just to hold bottom, and the results were okay considering the conditions 5 pan sized Reds and 5 Mowong 1 Pig Fish and a couple of those dreaded pesky Chinaman Jackets
