  1. I was fishing today and also the other day when i noticed that my burley was largely overrun by the fisherman's burley beside me. It was very bright red in colour and had a pasty consistency, almost like sand. Could anyone have a clue on what burley this is as i've got no idea on what this great fish attractant. Cheers, Barra
  2. Most times when i go fishing i come back with a putrid smell on my hands. I usually rub my hands on the inside of a lemon (skin) to get the smell off. If that doesn't work i usually resort to stainless steel. But your description of the smell makes me want to throw up. Never heard of anything like that. If your hands smell like iodine you could try and use a thiosulfate solution or you could just 'give it time'.
  3. Launched the yaks at tunks park on sunday around 8am, and paddled around up to quakers hat bay in hopes of a few fish. Had full pilchards and squid out and within a half hour my overhead reel was screaming, reeled it up to find that it was a bloody eel! We caught a few bream and trevally amongst the markers/moorings and overall it was great fun. We picked up a few jellybean yakkas from another fisho and within 10 minutes a solid hit, the yakka was smashed in half. Most definitely a tailor, although the fishos beside us were constantly getting busted off by some big kings. Overall it was a great day and i hope to get on the water a bit more often and conquer the quest of a massive winter king. - KingieRun
  4. That's a bummer mate! Ah well, at least you did see some type of action!
  5. Hi Guys, I plan to go out to middle harbour on the yaks this Sunday and I am in hopes of a few fish. I will be fishing around Quakers hat bay and I'm keen for a few fish. I have a few questions, 1. Can you catch yakkas in the bay itself? 2. What is an ideal rig for kingies, salmon, etc. 3. What would be the ideal fish to fish for around Quakers Hat? I've just been full of thought the past week and i don't want to head out without a solid plan. Cheers, KingieRun
  6. I'm out on sunday, on the yaks.
  7. Cheers mate for the help
  8. Do you reckon hooking up to a marker will work alright or do you recommend drifting?
  9. Hi All, I'm bound to go out and take the yaks out in the next couple of days and I'm looking to fish around the spit/fig tree point. I don't know whether i should fish around the spit or down near fig tree point, fig tree is a lot more practical. I will be heading over with fresh pillies, prawns and yakkas and will have a big bread burley trail going. Hoping to get some kingie action but i don't know where to start or go. Any help is deeply appreciated, Cheers, KingieRun
  10. To be completely honest with you, one of the most gun baits to this day would have to be the humble nipper/yabbie. You can pump them everywhere around the lagoon and they attract some solid fish (Bream, flatties and big whiting). In your current situation, I would most definitely go for the live poddies as nothing beats live bait as they say. Cheers, KingieRun
  11. Nice catch mate! Plastics are addictive, Once you catch one you're determined to catch another. I'm currently hooked on to Zman Grubz they work a treat.
  12. Hi, I am keen to get into Kayak Fishing with a recently bought new fishing kayak, The spit is probably one of the more practical spots but i am able to travel elsewhere. I have heard about good fishing spots on either sides of the bridge and i have attempted to fish these spots but i was left with a donut! Would anyone be keen on sharing a few decent spots as i am having trouble finding the fish. I do not expect any secret spots but anything that will put myself in good chances of catching a good one is appreciated. Cheers, KingieRun
  13. Hi all, Just a quickie, I am quite new to the forums and have been willing to seek some knowledge from others. I was wondering whereabouts would be a great spot to start kayak fishing. I have currently got a couple of Yaks but yet to catch fish in any. I have been out a few times in Middle Harbour and Pittwater but I was unable to catch anything not even a single bite! I have a Garmin fishfinder but I am struggling to see anything. Could I please have any tips / recommendations on where to fish and how to fish the area. - Cheers, Kingierun
  14. Thanks Mate! I was just wondering, would you anchor off right near the bridge on top of the eddies or just drift through?
  15. Hi Raiders, I was just curious about the fishing around middle harbour. I am quite new to fishing middle harbour and I was just wondering if anyone had any spots up their sleeves that they wouldn't mind sharing . I have tried drifting through the spit with an SP slowing drifting down but had no luck! I have tried the buoys each side of the spit but had no luck. I don't really know the best way to approach fishing for jews whether it be lures, bait, etc. Any help is appreciated! Regards, KingieRun
