  1. After last week's single big girl but no keepers, yesterday I went out in search of a feed and I hit a good patch of eating sized flatties in the Georges. Got them on the morning run out tide in 2-3 feet of water on blades, shallow diving minnows and SPs. The fish were very agressive and a few hit the lures on the cast. They ranged from 38-46cm, with a few identical in length. Today, I spent an hour filleting, skinning and boning them and now have two sensational meals for the family. I think the rain helped dirty up the water and I'll hopefully be out there again later this week!
  2. Great post and some fabulous fish there....it's a;most a screenplay for a comedy!
  3. Cracker White chaps there dude...dinner is served!
  4. Fantastic fish and check out the glass!
  5. Headed out in the Georges this morning in my kayak. Plan was to fish the last hour or so of the run out with a variety of lures. Tried all my deep and shallow spots for zip and HBs, SPs and blades weren't cutting it. Only action I saw was a big tailor or salmon chasing a mullet right past the bow. Trolling on the flats near a drop off, I picked up a couple of little herring and thought.....mmm nice livie so onto my biggest rig one went and I trolled it just through a nice deep hole where i have scored some good flatties in the past. Right as I past through the deepest of the hole, a violent bend in the rod and some screaming drag. Pedalled out away from the boats and moorings and began to bring the fish in. After a short fight, she came up and I netted her. Pedalled onto a nearby sandflat and took a couple of quick snaps on the brag mat...she went just over 78cm, then off she went back to the depths. Only decent fish of the day but a good way to kick off the flatty season!!

  18. With the swell still down a bit, I headed to a spot that fishes well with no bump and arrived just after high tide. Burleyed up and fished prawns for a nice mixed bag of tarwhine drummer and trevs. Got bricked a couple of times as I was only using 4kg string. Amazing light show in the off shore storms and no-one around...nice couple of hours!
  19. Mustad Wide Gap (pink colour) for livies such as poddies and yakkas. You don't miss many fish with these hooks as they penetrate the corner of the mouth to save your leader! Nice feed there too!
