  1. Hi, I have a Shimano Sienna that is now loosing that smooth winding feel and is developing a slight grinding feel to it. I just wanted to ask people what they do to firstly prevent this from happening (i assume some sort of grease) and secondly what should I do to fix the problem (which parts to I take apart etc) Cheers Andrew
  2. I hadnt been on the water for a while and despite the average forecast we persisted anyway. First we headed to the heads to look for some surface action, but nothing was happening so we trolled north head and then around to Grotto then Clonfaf. But we only got a few little fish and there nothing much happening in the hazy conditions. Then we headed towards the habour bridge area. There were heaps of guls directly under the bridge, which was a sure sign of some activity but we obviously couldnt stop due to the restrictions. We flicked at a few of the markers and did some trawling around the area, but had little success. On the way home we finally came across some surface action in the main harbour. Who needs a sounder when you have sea-gulls as direction leading us to the fish We caught alot of taylor in a short space of time, only around the 30-40cm mark. But it was a bit of fun on light gear and a good way to end the day. Would have been nice to get a by-catch of something a little bigger... Also the fish the taylor were eating was about 3cm long, but that didnt stop them taking our slices Cheers Andrew
  3. Well done mate, good effort! Those yamashita jigs are fantastic jigs There is just something about squidding that makes it so rewarding and enjoyable... Good luck with the jew!
  4. Good work with the fish and the stroke of luck! Great to be out on the water I found $10 in main Harbour a few weeks ago on my way to get breakfast....paid for my maccas breakfast Cheers
  5. Ahh right. Thanks for that. I did initially think that...but they actually look pretty similar, the wings are almost the same size and the mantles aren't that much thinner
  6. I went down for a quick squid session in the Harbour at lunch time today. Surprisingly there was lots of activity with a heap of blackies and best of all lots of squid! There was a school of about 20 southerns, only little ones. But there were a few larger ones about and I managed to get 3 within 15min. Only after they each had about 6 hits at the jig....they were very aggressive. Its very pleasing when the knowledge and information from people of this site is put into action and gets results. So thanks to those of you! Below is a pic of the 3 i got today. The other one below that is a larger one i got a couple of weeks ago at the same spot (my PB) Andrew
  7. you've done it again as usual D&G, great work! cya on the water soon Andrew

Mate I had the exact same problem down at Clifton Gardens last week. I managed to get 2 but only after they hit the 1.8 jig about 3 or 4 times. They kept coming from the side and wouldnt get caught on the end barbs...bit strange as I've never had this problem before? Cheers Andrew
  9. The gap has been left as it was when new The spark plugs are equivalent to the ones that came out of it The fuel oil mix could have something to do with it but it is only the bottom cyclinder that is clogging up I was running it 30-40:1 thanks
  10. Hi, I'm just looking for anyones advice regarding my 15hp mariner outboard motor I have recently bought it second hand and bought new spark plugs for it as well However when I've taken it out recently the spark plugs keep getting clogged with oil causing it to run on only one cylinder and then the boat goes really slow. But when I clean them up it seems to go ok again Any one got any ideas on what the problem might be or how to fix it ? Cheers Andrew
  11. You have gotta be happy with that mate! Great catch despite the conditions! How big were the squid? I usually usually only get little followers there that are very timid and dont bite... Cheers
  12. I was out on Tuesday and the squid were about, its very annoying when you can see them sitting behind your jig and they won't take it I even saw a group of about a dozen baby squid smaller than an inch long....i thought it wasn't breeding time now? Great post by the way! Cheers
  13. Apparently they are extending the ramp and is expected to take 3 weeks
  14. Good to see you got out on the water Dan and had a good day Pity about the fish though But i'm sure you will get them next time...like you always do Cheers Andrew
  15. Yeah I would say your spot on there! But unfortunately when I was there I only took down the rod with 1 jig on it and no scent....oh well maybe next time Thanks for your replies
