  1. Still not a bad effort mate. Trying looking where the waves break and keep an eye out for the whitewash. Usually means there's a sand bar or higher ground etc. Also check out where the waves form. That's usually deep water. I tried maroubra beach this morning. Same spot as you. No luck. Just a few bites. Run out tide too.
  2. Oh ok. I see what you mean. Might try both lol
  3. I've decided to give it a go. I'll let you know how I do. Fingers crossed
  4. Hi Fishos Thinking of hitting the beach this Sunday morning (20/11/16) but I have a few concerns and would like everyone's opinions Here are a few facts Sunrise: 5.40am Low tide: 7.20am Wind: SSE 6knots Swell: 1.1m Solunar activity: high (tides4fishing.com) Best time to fish: 5.40am-7.40am (tides4fishing.com) (time I'm planning on fishing) I'd be on the beach targeting salmon/tailor with pillies Knowing all this, would you guys go out or save it for another day? Appreciate the response
  5. Cheers. 20cm tailor down at Cabarita on my lunch break
  6. Finally caught my first fish on a lure. Using a shimano waxing mini on a swivel. I was testing the swimming action before casting by casting about 10 meters or so and it didn't really affect the swimming action. Swam quite nicely
  7. Anything I should be looking out for to tell the differences?
  8. Thanks for the advice I definitely will give both a shot
  9. And you found that salted bait was just as effective as un-salted?
  10. Oh ok. I've thought about salting them but I've been told, while they stick better to the hook, they tend to lose their appeal to the fish. Is this true? I was told an alternative to this would be to use that bait keeping string/cotton (not sure what it's called)
  11. Oh ok. I figured that would be the case After "re-using" the bait, you guys still had success with them?
  12. Hi all I was planning on hitting the beach early Sunday morning (13/11/16) but I was too buggered and decided to leave it for another day I bought some fresh pilchards on Saturday (12/11/16) and I still have them in my freezer My question is, how long can I freeze them before they are no longer deemed "fresh"? I didn't buy much. 400g for $6. Might be easier to use them as berley? Just wanted to know everyone's opinion Fufu
  13. Cheers macman ill definitely give it a shot
  14. Hi all Im thinking of going out and catching some poddy mullet to be used as beach bait. Not chasing anything inperticular, just the usual tailor, salmon etc. whatever comes my way really. My question is, how long can poddy mullet (live) survive in the surf off beaches such as north narrabeen and maroubra. I understand the conditions play a part, but has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks in advance
  15. And you've had success? I'm intrigued now lol might have to give this a go
  16. Just to make sure I understand this you actually cast and rig them the same as bait and let the surf do all the work?
  17. Hi there keen to see if anyone has a response to this?
