Most rods have optimum line bs rang followed by casting weight range printed near front grip.
Rod code 702sw is prbably either 7ft 2in Salt Water or 7ft 2 peice Salt Water.
With a lot of shimanos i have found they dont tho
I have a sahara (different model to spool's ) and a cazna both dont have it

Amount of bait around is crazy, tides made it ridicolous hard to fish last night
plenty in the water today around the rip

For a 4-8kg i would think try something round 15gm
-
Plenty of quality braids
30-40lb is your best bet i reckon no lighter for jewies
just a few stellas eh
i like Fins

Sure can! Where he is fishing for tailor is sunny corner! It’s between boat Harbour and one mile point. The Mac tuna was caught off one mile point. Plenty of good safe ledges around there but it’s a fair walk in. Google it and follow the trails!
Good luck
cheers scratchie!!!
good onya ? for sharing

yes
if you can fit the line through and tie a knot it will be fine
23 kg breaking strain is going to hold for the mentioned fish
And if you get snapped it'll be the line over the swivel
if that happens you need heavier gear ?

Beaut fish mate
-
ok
and yeah i agree with you about the gutter thing
-
awesome jewie
how do you reckon shop brought beachworms would go?
-
Walk along the foreshore to cover ground
bream flathead and whiting will be there so grub style lures probably be best to cover all three fish
also a popper could be fun beause its relatively shallow
hope this helps somewhat
good luck

I would suggest pulling the head and guts out and keeping as one or two baits, skinning the hood and keep the wings in tact for a bait each, cut the hood open down one side so it opens like a big triangle and cut it into strips, normally from the tip down so you end up with long triangle baits. I put the top hook in the tip of the strip, make sure there is a bit of slack line between the two hooks so the strip stays straight. This will make sense when you do it if it doesn't quite make sense now.
it makes sense thanks

thanks a lot captain spanner!
plenty of useful info in there for me
?
dumb question but is a squid strip just cut from the hood?
cheers

Gday raiders
Recently I've been doing research on getting a jewie of the beach
But I would like to hear peoples opinions on rigs and baits for the fish
I am only thinking about a 60-80cm fish for starters anyway
I've got a 6-10kg starlo stick 11ft and 4000 daiwa Aird with 30 lb braid
There has been some great information in previous threads and would love to see some in here and maybe someone but myself could be helped
Cheers ARC H

nice flattie ?

they are endangered so they probably are in sydney just rare

more info
Gday raiders
Still a few flatties around the estuaries
these two were caught drifting round moorings on 5 inch samaki bomb shads and 3/8 jig heads as it was deep water
Fish were caught at about 40 mins after high
The bigger one put up a decent struggle on the light gear
They Also cooked up nicely
Had scaled one before thinking of putting up a report
Long time since last report sorry
Cheers
