Today i was lucky enough to learn freshwater fishing tactics by @Wellzy94 as i have only fished saltwater i was eager to learn Stocked up with some crankbaits and cicada lures and i was set! Caught my first fresh water fish and my first bass, it was a baby but still couldn't be happier! P.s spewin, lost that lure not long after that fish lol Thanks mate

I love Zman's 100% my go to! Especially in color opening night and motor oil (bream, flattys, tailor etc) But im starting to get into fisharrow, the detail and range looks pretty sweet!

Hey fellas! 27yr old, Penrith based and been living in sydney for 2 years so still pretty new to the area, looking for someone who wants to go fishing, dont know many people around the area lol. Only ever done salt water fishing but im very eager to learn freshwater I dont own a boat so mainly will be land based unless you own one. I havent really used them at night but if i was going to i would try to use bright colors maybe even like fluro pink or green. Not 100% sure on the efficiency at night though

I use about 1-2metres of fluorocarbon leader. Depending on what im targetting but for flathead i go around 10lb and bream i go like 5-7 but im sure there are a lot of different ways that work for people. For some good info watch youtube videos just search "flathead on soft plastics" or "bream on soft plastics" a ton of videos will come up

Hey mate!! Myself personally i like the zman range, either the paddle tail or grub. Both have a good amount of action, another i use for flathead are the Squidgies brand, cant remember the exact name but its a fish shape with a curly tail (wriggler think its called) i rate them pretty highly. Havent used gulp a lot and im not very fond of them, if ur after scent try procure mullet or maybe s factor. Im going to be sampling Fisharrow soft plastics soon they look really detailed Also get yourself a lot of different weight TT jigheads, some of my soft plastics move off the lighead so i put a tiny drop of super glue on the headlock part and then my soft plastic isnt moving off the hook Good luck!

I have the 7ft 6-10kg with the 4k reel to go with it, took it out and targeted spotted macks and got 3 and lost one, all around 7kgs and the rod went good for the first use, was really fun on the lighter gear I searched the web and seen all positive reviews for them, plus at that price cant complain for a good looking set up that works well

I just got the 6kg veritas combo and took it off shore, cleaned up the spotted mack with it. Got 3 around 7+ kgs and didnt havea problem with the rod, was fun on the lighter gear. Those combos have a decent review from users as far as i know i think there on sale for $160

I used fireline for a while then switched to Jbraid and will never switch back! Love the stuff and in my honest opinion its superior in everyway

Picked up a Anu garcia Veritas combo (from a mate brand new) its a 6-10kg rod at 7ft and has a s40 reel. Would u say this rod would be decent enough to catch kingies around legal size? Or even for some bonito and snapper. Thanks for all the input guys appreciate it

Getting the dust off this thread. Heading out this weekend targetting some kingies and other pelagics near south west rocks. Thinking about pairing one of these with my abu garcia promax60. Would u reccomend? Mainly using with jigs and stickbaits. Hows the casting even though there pretty short

Hey fellas! Im heading to hat head this weekend for some time on a boat (ive been stinging for it) I havent had a lot if experience with boat fishing and looking for advice from you guys I have a 10-15kg rod with abu garcia promax 6k reel spooled with 20lb braid. I have 50lb leader and also 20lb leader, i "think" im ok in this department but im looking for advice on what lures to use and if u can send me links of some you suggest if its alright. I would highly appreciate it. We are primarily targetting kingfish and other pelagic, most probably doing some bottom fishing to for snapper and such I want to use jigs and lures to get more experienced etc Any info would be highly appreciated, the more info i can learn before i go the better my chances are

Went back today! Fished for around 2-3 hours caught and released 1 flatty, Got another hit but didnt set the hook. No other bites

Hey lads Today i got my very first catch with a soft plastic, absolutely stoked! I fished off of the ledge from Halliday park to where the tinnys are upside down. I used the hop and pause technique but i didnt experience anything then i kinda used the same technique but my rod was sideways, my rod tip wasnt facing my line (if that makes sense) and thats when i got my 1st flatty After i got to 2 big hits but failed to set the hooks using that "sideways" technique lol. I feel my rod tip is to stiff whenever i do the normal double hop and pause the line is so slack even if i reel in. Not to sure But anyway! Cant wait to get back out i like this spot I was using a 3" Zman paddletail Opening night 3/4 jighead (pink) Pro cure mullet Absolutely stoked! Copped so much crao of my mates saying i will never catch anything with a lure and im so happy adter trying for hours and hours ive finally done it haha It was about 43cm i let it go after doing some dental work extracting that lure lol
