  1. About $20 and was planning to sika straight to the hull and only drill for the wires directly behind the light so you can't see the wire running up and over the transom, didn't think about the reflection good point thanks.
  2. A bummer indeed! I was originally planning on SS rivets and bought some tef-gel to coat for that reason but then went with all aluminum rivets of the same grade as to not have dissimilar metals and hopefully avoid the corrosion, well at least that was my theory hmmm..... appreciate the feedback mate.
  3. Oh yeah I hear that, royally gets under my skin too! "What's the lowest you'll take " they say before asking any questions about the item. "The lowest I MAY take would be the absolute maximum you're willing to pay.... its called a negotiation". I work in sales and there are ways to get a seller to their rock bottom but you need to be engaged, do your homework and be genuine. I wouldn't totally right off gumtree as you could potentially be missing out on your best sale and there are genuine users, such as myself. Just gotta deal with the rubbish unfortunately. Speaking of which I'll be putting up my 16' quinnie in a few months, I'm new to fishraider is there an area here where you can promote you boat for sale?
  4. I have no experience with a busta but I can say the Yamaha 30hp 4 stroke is a great motor however is just a derated 40hp so is already around 15 - 20kg heavier than most of its 4 stroke 30hp competition not to mention more expensive. Having said that as it has the makings of more HP it may actually not work as hard at full throttle (no you can't retune it to 40hp). I recently went through this myself on my F390 explorer and almost put pen to paper on the Yamaha but ended up opting for the carbied Honda, saved some precious weight and the $ savings almost paid for my motorguide. At the end of the day you're on to a good thing!
  5. Raiders, I'll be mounting a small squid light on the transom of my F390 explorer but is it best to have it mounted above or below the water line (as the light faces downward) or does it not really matter? I like the idea of avoiding drilling unnecessary holes beneath the water line. I'm looking at something like this.....
  6. Hi guys, a few months ago I took on my 1st tinny project and am hoping for some general advice just to make sure I'm on the right track, having never done this before. I purchased 1 of those new Fighter series explorers "F390" just the hull and am doing all the leg work myself to deck it out similar to that of a tiller steer hornet or the likes but with an extended front deck. Framing is nearly done using 40x40x3mm angle and AA rivets and plan on decking with 12.5mm (not sure if I should go 1 size up in thickness) BB grade hoop pine ply and sealing before covering with marine carpet. Plan is to have 2 x seats at the rear freeing up the casting deck and shifting the fuel, starting battery to the center of the hull along with built in esky to redistribute the weight. Electric motor up front with trolling battery and 30hp 4 stroke sitting pretty up back. Basic flow-rite 30l livewell and plumbing kit will be either mid hull if room permits otherwise up against the transom. Several storage hatches. Here are some pics thus far along with original concept. I'm not too far in that I can't change the plan hence seeking advice now before I go further. Thanks in advance.
