What a great day on the water today clean clear water, no current, slight swell, no wind, sun out, all adds up to no fish biting!!! good day anyway better than working (although no job at the moment thanks to COVID) steamed home from Broughton at 52kph. Lines in around 6am I ended up with 2 keepers just on size, returned a few under size, moved around the water depths, washes and structure they just weren’t on. Although my mate decided not to head up to the island but shoot off out the front to one of his favourite drop offs and cleaned up with 3 beasts 3-4kg’s on livies and strip bait.... How did you go on the Tuna.

I think I was a bit more concerned about my P,s & Q,s after he grabbed the second one yelling at him f off you big fnc, looking up to see a nice young family walking along the waterfront in their Sunday’s best looking at me in horror. Oops.

Hey guys my hand held works very well, crystal clear reception way north of Broughton, fad and all way around Crowdy north and south, holds heaps of charge at least 4-5 trips has never gone flat, clip it or tie it on anywhere.

Thanks Kingie they just don’t do it for me cooking them up.. have tried a few methods in the past dusted, crumbed and fried, prepped them up right bled, gilled, gutted and iced. Pelicans got a good feed at the ramp though all the heads and frames, one of the big boys stole two big fillets right in front of me, slid his big beak up the cleaning bench twice !! how can you get cranky at em?...

The birds were working a big school of Salmon off Moon island this morning, they only hung around about an hour with 5 boats throwing everything they had at them, I was trolling the old faithful Halco laser pro Red head which was irresistible to their feeding frenzy. Bit of fun for a while on the light gear watching the line scream off on every hook up, and then another big run when they get near the boat. Stripped and salted these up for a big day on the Reds at Broughton tomorrow.

And all without a sticker or stamp !!!! We’re all fishermen having a go, should there be a secret hand shake or ring as well......

Yeh caught on a small live bait, by catch you’ll call it. The Dory family are popular eating fish, led foremost by John Dory, which is identifiable by the dark round marking on its side (said to be the thumbprint left when the fish was picked up by St Peter). They are caught mainly by trawling methods off the continental shelf along the southern half of Australia. 'Pacific Dory' or 'Basa' fillets are in fact imported catfish from Asia of no relation to the Dory family.

Headed out to 12 mile this morning with great weather and seas but hard going on the fishing. First up livies just wouldn’t jump on the hook had to do with the handful we could get, throughout the day sounding up good bait balls and fish but nothing interested in the live bait or jigs. There were a heap of boats out there today all chasing the king, we herd a few comments that they may be on the sporn?.. Finally first catch was decent 55cm John Dory and then a 70cm king and that was it for the day. All in all not a bad selection of quality table fish and a great fun day.

Hey Guys Heading for a fish this Tuesday morning about 6.30 - 7am from Davidson park boat ramp, anyone keen to catch up and hit a few spot around the harbour and heads. Keen to target some kings, Flatties and maybe Reds, Chase some birds In the harbour etc. Weather, wind and swells good. I’m no pro in this area Just coming down from Newcastle to have a fish. cheeres.

Flathead are firing now around Stockon Bridge, found a few shell run off reef patches on the morning run out tide just as it turned, landing sizes between 40-70cm range bagging out within the hour all on soft plastics. It was a good time to try a few different type and sizes of lure catch and release. Colour, paddle tails in clear speckle diesel colour seemed slightly better than the clear blue or green. Size, as expected the 3-4cm Lures attracted the smaller 35-50cm fish and the 6-7cm lures the larger fish. Although, the two largest fish shown bellow which I released one was caught on a 7cm clear Blue speckled paddle tail and the other on a 6cm double treble vibe in brown diesel colour. The vibe was interesting as I had to keep it moving pretty quick and jerky as it would obviously get snagged very quickly on the shallow shells and landed 3 fish 60-70cm. Great morning all round small bite window though planning is the key to be on the water flickin.
