  1. Thanks legend 💪 Thanks @Blackfish Do you mean Kilcare surf beach?
  2. Took my 4 year old on a beach worming catching adventure Friday 5pm. First time for the fam and I armed myself with some pre research via YouTube vids, some pliers and a stocking filled with some stinky pillies. Went down to Umina Beach near the Ocean Beach SLC. Didn't get any worms to pop their lil heads up. Did get a heap of Pippi's though. Can you get beach worms at Umina or any of the other local beaches? Want to hit up Patonga Creek this afternoon and go after some whiting.
  3. Baha. Yes my model is the Jnr Burger 🤣. I'm just happy to catch a new species doing a new style of fishing 👍

  5. Caught it off the beach at Umina Beach during a night session this evening. My guess was a Silver Trevally. Thoughts?
  6. Hi @mrsswordfisherman Nice work on the moderation. Love this website. How can I move my post to the https://www.fishraider.com.au/forum/72-adopt-a-learner/ topic please? Thanks Luke
  7. Hi @kingie chaser Took your advice and did some trawling for info and hit up Umina at the four pines. Victory!! Yes! Luke
  8. Thanks @kingie chaser Great suggestions. I'll check out those topics. I tried posting in the Adopt a Learner topic you suggested, but the topic looks to be closed. See you on the water. Luke
  9. Hey Fishraiders I've recently moved to Ettalong Beach from Sydney and have been fishing my tookus off which has been great. I've mainly been flicking soft plastics and hard bodies on a lightweight flick stick. One style of fishing I'm interested in is beach fishing. Never really done this style of fishing and looking to pick up some tips from a local Jedi master. I've bought a Shimano Surf Spin 1062 rod with a Shimano Sedona HD C5000. Currently running 20 pound braid and mono. Long story is I've got all the gear and no idea. Would love to buddy up with a beach ninja and learn some basics like finding bait (puppies/worms), gutters and rigs. Will supply snacks, coffee and/or beer. Thanks Luke
  10. Thanks @big Neil Good point you raise! I'll stick with land based flicking for the meantime.
  11. Hi @kingie chaser I did a lot of estuary fishing for bream and whiting mainly. Also loved doing overnight solo hikes for trout. We are loving living at Ettalong. Slowly, but surely finding my spots and getting some fish. Off topic, but had a funny experience off the Phegans Bay pier on Sunday with my 4.5 year old boy getting nailed by a massive flatty (60cm plus easy) on a kids lipstick rod on 6 pound with a running sinker/long shank rig. The funny part was he was just dunking the singer and red long shank off the side of the pier, letting it hit the bottom and then he would wind it back up. Must have been hitting a croc on the knogg'in as it took the bait-less hook and tore off at a rapid pace. It did a figure 8 around the jetty before busting off. My missus was hanging off the edge trying to scoop it up in a bucket. I was too busy laughing my ass off. Good times! Cheers Luke
  12. Hi Fishraiders The wife, my boy and I have moved to Ettalong Beach and I'm looking to meet some fisho mates. If anyone is looking for company and wants to go for a fish in Brisbane Waters then I'm your guy. I'm 44 years old, boat-less and have been sticking with land based so far. Loving our new home, but having limited success so far in the fishing department. Would be great to go fishing with a boated up local who can teach me a trick or two. Will supply beer, snacks and happy to chip in for petrol! Cheers Luke
