  1. My mate said broken bay looked reasonable today . Don’t forget that the fresh sits on top so it will look muddy for a while to come but go down a few metres and it will be clearer . You can always duck into Cowan if you don’t like the colour of the main river . There will be trees floating around for a month or two to come , just be aware and take it easy . I’m surprised I haven’t seen any reports of big mulloway after that flush - maybe no one has been trying for them ?

I Recon it could be one of those big Porcupine Fish as XD351 mentioned. Pretty common in the estuaries.

I had one break a Mustad 9555b once . They have a similar head construction to a green toad but they have plates instead of a beak type tooth - their mouth is a bit like a pair of Vise grips. They used to blow up to the size of a volley ball !

  3. Ok , there isn’t a barricade under the harbour bridge so the fish can and do move around all through the harbour and its tributaries. I wouldn’t eat a crab or a prawn from anywhere in Sydney harbour- actually expand that to anywhere within 100km of Sydney!  My advice is to minimise what you eat out of anywhere in Sydney harbour . Fish that feed on things like oysters , mussels or marine worms probably have higher levels of dioxins because their food source is either a  filter feeder or ingests the sludge in the bottom of the system as they feed . I know plenty of people who eat fish out of the parra river and have no problems , I grew up eating fish and prawns out of there and I am fine .

  4. Is it possible that the timer is showing you whole seconds but is actually timing in tenths , hundredths or even thousandths of a second ? You may have been beaten by a fraction of a second . I stopped playing timed games because the mobile broadband where I am is a bit dodgy and it frustrated me to death having pages hang .

  5. Many years ago I did get some from the pond near the airport ( yellow circle in first picture) you could try the lagoon in picture 2 as well - no guarantees of there being any weed in these places today ! Other than that try the ocean rocks - sometimes you can get hair weed as well as cabbage - you will have to go and look for it .

Maybe you would be better heading down to Jindabyne I have a mate down there at the moment and he tells me they are landing Browns to 3kg and Rainbows almost as big.

PS Be careful if you are driving .Mate tells me he has never seen so many police in the area in his life, they are everywhere for some reason, maybe there are some polititans fishing down that way.

Back home today , only saw one cop at Cooma and they were getting coffee .
The lady at the camp ground ( anglers reach ) said the siltation problem was from some  sort of work that is being done at a dam upstream . I originally wanted to go to wyangla but my mate talked me into Eucumbene- not complaining though , still had a good time chugging around the lake .

  7. Well we ended up trolling various lures ( inc tas devils ) from the surface down to around 15m , cast lures , jigged lures , used bait ( worms & power bait at various depths from the surface to 30m depth ) and finally in frustration I even tried a small popper as we had a fish snatch a Santa Claus off the surface and another swipe at a bubble that was rising from the bottom - didn’t even get a follow or lose a bait .
I don’t recall ever fishing so hard for zip! Went up the Eucumbene river which used to be river pebble bottom but for some reason it is now mostly mud which isn’t good for trout breeding. Of all the other boats we seen , I didn’t see a bent rod or hear of anything being caught , other than fly fishing I don’t know if there was anything more I could have done .
With winter approaching I think the next trip will be north coast luderick!
The weather was great up until midday when a stiff NW breeze hit town .IMG_0669.thumb.jpeg.9192a5f9711346b070ac0f5074536b7e.jpeg

Wish you told m you were going down. I could have lent you a downrigger and a lead core outfit with some tazzies .

Best way in my opinion to get the big ones

I won't wish you happy times as I know you will have them but good luck .

    Frank

Living the dream!! Even with the pelagic action along the MN coast I am sorely tempted to swap places. Don't know about the half pillie rig tho'.

Let us know how you go up the Providence Arm - I expect a nice big brown!!

Went up there today , horrible dirty water @ 18.5c  . Trolled  all the way up and back for zip , stopped at Hughes creek for a flick and got nothing . Try the other end tomorrow as the water iS cleaner .

  10. Dusk at Lake Eucumbene camp ground - cold beer , warm fire and a fishing trip tomorrow-  God I have missed this - it’s been too long !
    Mission objectives:
Can I get a trout on a spikes half pilly rig ?
Can I get one on an uncle vinnies lure or a gobblers and can I stay sober enough to even go fishing - time will tell 🤣🤣🤣

probably better to post this question in "Saltwater Fishing Chat" rather than "Freshwater Fishing Reports"

Once posted I think only a moderator or admin can move it - can be a bit daunting posting your first few posts so I don’t think he will get a slapped wrist 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  12. You can do it on your phone and use YouTube studio to do editing iirc . I have only posted one video on YouTube and from memory it was just an upload and post scenario, much like posting a photo on this forum . I think that is probably the easiest way as you don’t have to play around with memory cards ( SD cards ) or data transfer like you do with things like go pros.

There is a YouTuber out there that used to be on here that goes by the name Shroom , maybe contact him via his Facebook page and let him know you’re from fishraider- I’m sure he will help you .

I have had a similar experience getting it to generate code. I think it's a case of using the right tool for the right job. We might all be able to buy a scalpel, but can we do brain surgery? No! In the same vein it won't turn technological laggards into computer programmers.

AI has proven useful at 4pm on a Friday afternoon to get me started on something new, rather than slacking off. However, I only use it to create templates to get me started. At this point in time, you'd be delusional if you think it could write exactly the code that you want. That will probably change as the technology and my skill levels change.

I totally agree Neil. That said, I think we can still see some hope in that communities like this still have a very significant human element to them. The key is that this community is not driven by an algorithm. By preferring this community to other algorithm-driven social media, I actually suspect we are all 'banal old farts' by hanging out here, regardless of our age 🤣

It is ok for basic stuff like flashing a light but ask it to create a sketch for say an internet radio or a PWM motor controller with feedback and touchscreen display and see how it goes ! As you know , you have to install libraries for pretty much everything that is connected to a microcontroller so the AI needs to know what libraries to select in the sketch and I’m not confident that AI is able to do that - being that there are so many different versions of most libraries , some work , some don’t and some are dodgy . This is why I rarely used sketches from a popular repository or hub on the internet . But anyway I’m over that phase in my life - Fishing is way more fun ! 🤣🤣🤣
