Great report and well done. Those beaches around there can produce, but can also unfortunately hold a lot of sand crabs which can be a nuisance.

Oh okay. Thanks for letting me know. I actually wrapped a piece of cotton thread around the Pilchard to make sure that it did not fall off the hook easily. Maybe that offers some protection from sand crabs too? Or maybe there are fewer sand crabs 100m out?

This was my first attempt at drone fishing and it was rewarded beyond my expectations. I used my Hubsan Zino to fly a Paternoster rig out to about 100m and got a double hookup. I was using defrosted Squid on the top hook and Pilchard on the bottom hook. This area is recommended for beach/drone fishing. See the full video report below with location information:

    HI,

Nice video Khalid.  Mossy Point is a shallow yet popular boat ramp for many locals.  Usually find yakkas just our front for live bait.  Just offshore there are some small but prominent reefs which hold some good kings at times.  Some good kings and snapper around Burrewarra Point, but make sure your outside the sanctuary zone.  A beautiful area to be sure.  Good luck with the fishing.  Cheers..........

    Appreciated mate.

Thanks for the tips, I will keep that in mind.

Looks good, personally haven't fished the area even though its close to me as much of it is protection zones.

    Hello JonD,

    Thanks for pointing that out.

I have seen that map before. Light Blue and Light Yellow areas are legal to fish in. Although bait collection is not allowed in Light Yellow areas so you need to bring your won bait with you. As such, Mossy Point Lookout is good to fish in.

  5. Hello All,

Introducing... Mossy Point Lookout, a stunningly beautiful place on South Coast, NSW. Judging by what I found on the internet, this is a good fishing spot. Although, I have not caught anything here myself but I got some bites when I was here last time. This place is so gorgeous that I decided to make a separate video just to show the beauty of this place. I am hoping that I will soon catch something here and thus be able to make a fishing video about it. Until then enjoy this video and let me know what you think? Has anyone experience with fishing at this place?

Hi KMS. I have family in Canberra and come there occasionally. What are the names of the roads and are they accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicle? Any chance we could catch up for a days fishing over the Summer? I normally fish the Murrumbidgee River for Murray Cod, Trout Cod and Yellowbelly.    bn 0466853633.

    Hello Neil,

Yes, this area is accessible by 2WD. You can park on the roadside somewhere near the crossing between Uriarra Road and Uriarra Loop Track as indicated by the labels #1 and #2 in the attached image. This place is awesome because you have Molonglo River on one side of the road and Murrumbidgee River on the other side. I call this place the Uriarra Fishing Corridor.

Sure, we can catch-up over fishing when you are in Canberra next. I will text you later today.

  7. Hello all,

I am new to this site and just wanted to share that Lower Molonglo River in Canberra is an excellent fishing area. I have been fishing this area for a while now and have caught several good sized Murray Cod and many Carp of course. If you are ever in Canberra then fishing in this area is highly recommended. The map below shows some of the good fishing spots that I have caught fish from:

    Nice effort 😀

Most people would see them as bi catch fishing for other species, still they can put up a bit of a fight & although a bit more work than a normal popular table fish in the skinning etc would be just as tasty as any ray/shark.

I let this one go but could have made plenty of different types of meals  :biggrinthumb:
