  1. I haven't been out much this season owing to a new addition of a baby to my family.

I got a leave pass for 2 hours after dropping my parents to the Airport. The mouth of Cooks river is where I decided to try my luck.

First cast at 8.30am, Sun Shining, bright blue Sydney skies. 6lb braid and fluero on Shimano raider.

I have been using plastics from a company in Qld rhyming with Wobbler. I tried a number of colours in paddletail and grub.

1 major bites on the river side, looked like a decent flatty. dropped.

I went down to the bridge but it was chockers and full of Jet skis in the water.

Just as I was about to head home at 10.30, bang bit hit by flatty while wading. Measured, dispatched, cleaned and cooked.

    A decent outing.

    Tide: Going down

    Conditions: Sunny but Windy

I take fishing from the shore ?
Bait or lures ? Any particular species or just trying for anything ? Although not on the lane cove - I fished woolwich wharf recently and a couple of kids caught a few keeper size flatties and a decent bream straight off the front of the wharf using bait . There is also clarkes point and Kellie’s bush reserve nearby . The wharf is free parking but you need to get there early - around 6am as the handful of spots fills quickly with people going to work via the ferry.

Shore, yes. I'll be showing him bait but I've got lures, SPs or I might try something else.

  3. Hi raiders,

I am taking a newbie to fishing out this weekend land-based. Due to me needing to be connected over mobile(ruling out Hawkesbury spots like Berowra), I am thinking of visiting places like Cunningham's reach or Burn's bay reserve. Any other recommended spots which have a rock wall, etc and productive spots for fishing.

    Thanks for the help

I have tried eating them. They are very boney. I guess with the right cooking method they would pass for food.   bn

It's not just the cooking method but eating method. Most of the subcontinent eats rice with hands so with a fish curry, you can remove the bones.

One of the most loved fish of that area is also very boney - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilish

Another popular fish is actually a type of carp - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohu

Yes it is allowed to fish there, however I wouldn't put anything that comes out of the weir or the parra in my mouth as the weir smells like stinky aquarium water 😂. The carp are there and will just generally take bread like what Shroom used, sometimes the bass will also take bread.

    Do they take any lures?

Carp aren't high on the taste feature list HP and I wouldn't eat anything from upstream of the Harbour Bridge. I always kill them when I catch them as they are a noxious pest and serve no benefit in Australian waters, other than the fun of catching them.

If I did catch them(anywhere), I'll cook them Bengali(Indian/Bangladesh) style full of mustard, turmeric and chilli so wouldn't notice the taste hehe.

Blue Point reserve is a very popular spot for shore jigging, and there are many videos on YT so its not any big secret.

Ive started throwing 30 gram metals again, stuff like the palms dax range, duo also make some ok ones. On the cheaper side you can get some nomad metals that work just as well.

Rods are typically more pricey because they will need to be long and light, as you will be casting for hours, and believe me it can leave you as sore as a good gym session.

On the lighter side you can go with a 3000 reel with a 10ft rod and some 10-12lb braid (But you will be in trouble with anthing bigger than a rat) I have one of these combos and its great in the surf.

Give <retailer removed, PM for details > a visit they are super knowledgeable and wont just try to rape your pocket, if you dont live close just call them and give them your budget.

You can import reels from JP to save some money but I generally get my rods from here in AUS, because whatever you save on price you will be paying for in oversized shipping charges.

Thanks man. Also, Shore Jigging is a year round activity isn't it?

When I said we'll beat you guys, I wasn't expecting NSW to pick 3 Parra players or Dylan brown to not understand consent.

Congrats! I'm glad youse didn't get to 50 and I think we'll see each other's teams in the finals hopefully.

Probably the best thing jake could have done - get away from his old man and those that wish to depose him .

Hey Rebel, that is payback for unloading terry hill on us all those years ago :074:

Ah Terry Hill! Reminds me of my first game at Parra. - Manly V Parra finals 05. The crowd has the "Terry's a Wanker" chant going.

I must thank Manly and every one of their supporters for taking brooks off our hands 🤣🤣

Just watch how Manly’s 2024 season goes down the toilet 🤣🤣🤣

I just hope sheens doesn’t buy some problem child from another team to replace him , we have plenty of junior players just waiting for their chance 👀 .

First twal scores his first try for the club and then brooks bails - I don’t care if we get the spoon this year - I could drop dead right now and I would die smiling 🤣🤣🤣🤣

In all of this, I feel sorry for Jakey Arthur. He wasn't as bad as some Parra fans made him out to be.

In the last week I have heard all sorts,of things about a new coach for NSW - Gallen , Mundine ,both the Johns brothers and god knows who else - none of these appeal to me .

Got nothing against Freddy - he just needs to take the blinkers off and take a look around at players from teams other than easts and Penrith . The coach only prepares them for the game , once they run on it is up to the players to win but we need a coach that can light a fire under them just before they run on and re ignite it at half time - Queensland have been good at this for years .

I've given up on Origin a few years ago, not because NSW sucks but I can't handle the difference in refereeing between NRL and Origin any more. Having said that, yes, NSW needs a cleanout. A player like Gutherson doesn't get a look in eventhough the flashy players can't deliver. Do NSW players actually care enough to win at the moment?

The 9 commentary “team” are painful to listen to, mumbles John’s needs to go permanently, Gus knows what he is talking about, but over does everything, Fittler is just along for the ride! Paul Kent I suspect has vanished for good, like him or not, his latest escapade has dealt him a death sentence in the media.

I pay for Kayo during the NRL season to avoid the 9 commentary team. God knows who likes them!

Warriors with a big message, Bunnies game next week will be a cracker.
Ever seen a bloke more dejected than Ben Hunt at his post match conference? Sheer cruelty to be on camera after that game.
Warriors in a good position coming into their home games. Very pleasing result

We(Parra) coming for your Warriors after our Bye next week.
