  1. i got some great advice from Bluecod you can read it here http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...wtopic=2719&hl=
  2. G'day mark The occy's feel like a lump of weed and usually drop off when they see the boat, so whenever i get a lump of weed i lean into it as hard as i can and it either drops off straight away or the hook sets in one of it's ten testicles (as daughter no.2 calls them )
  3. Got out on the water about 5am and headed up to moulinex point in the dark dodging a couple of boats without any lights. Drifted around for multiple small reds 1 keeper lizard 55cm a ray about 80cm which according to my book was a fiddler ray (released), and daughter No.2 caught her first numbfish. when i called it a numbfish she remembered when i grabbed one and she threw the rod down and made it into the cabin without her feet touching the deck. we called it a day with wind gusting to 17knts and the daughter very rod shy worried she would get another numby. regarding the ray, is this a fiddler? and my book says they are only fair eating (2 stars with lizards rating 3 stars ) has anyone kept one for the table and if so how was it? edit: how could i forget the 2 nice occy's that are going on my plate tonight
  4. i caught one in botany bay in december , didnt know what it was and tried to belly lift it into the boat. Needless to say i wont be doing that again
  5. are the parts and accesories much cheaper there?
  6. good idea i asked about ramps in the boating section and got some good replies. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...?showtopic=3213 but a dedicated section or a sticky with photo's would be good
  7. I only have a 40ltr tank and use about half during a day on the bay, but i dont motor about much. i would like around 80 to 100 ltrs to do the traveling i would like to do.
  8. wow, thats one hell of a report. glad everyone's ok Phil and thanks for the warning, my new first job when i set up for an outing is to pull the jackets out of storage.
  9. great result, i'm going to have a shot at the bay this weekend, hope their still about then
  10. Thanks all looks like i got some new areas to check out
  11. Hi all I'm looking to expand my fishing area's, problem is i don't know many ramps that suit solo launch/retrieve. Where are your favorite ramps for glass boats with either sand to pull up on while parking or getting the trailer, or a decent jetty/ pontoon to tie up to. one of my main concerns is blocking other boats while parking or getting the trailer. two ramps i really like are the cooks river ramp for botany bay and the swallow rock reserve ramp for port hacking but i would like some more ideas any of the waterways. Thanks Brian
  12. no idea about the weight Kevvy but it tows easy behind my VR 6cyl commodore
  13. If it could be proven that they made money that went towards purchasing a house it should be confiscated under the proceeds of crime act, make an example of them. if people thought they could lose thier house it might make them think twice.
  14. Q: How can you tell when you have a real fisho on board? A: when he's got a bloody big hook through his foot but wants to make another couple of passes before heading in to get it removed. BTW nice fish but did you get any pics of the foot?
  15. HI kev and I dont know anything about the commodores but i have a crestcutter 5.2 mtr with a 115 johno on the back. like ankles says just look for the usual glass boat problems in the transom and floor, from my research before i bought it they dont seem to have any specific problems and mine only takes on about half a cup of water in the bilge after a full day out. with the 115 on the back of mine i have plenty of grunt my tells me that we could even get a skier out of the water with it ( and she use to race in the bridge to bridge ). my rig is an early 80's model and isnt oil injected so i dont know how that compares to yours. hope that helps a bit
  16. I think thats it fastone OUTNUMBERED looks like you got it without meaning to. thanks mate
  17. ok looks like i might have to stop targeting lizards and have a go at these kingie things they sound like fun.
  18. some great ideas there thanks guy's. nope wasnt me Bill, today was my first day out in the last 2 weeks , bloody wind Snag....yes my youngest has offered a few names but i refuse to call it Petal or Mcdonalds
  19. got a late start from cooks river ramp (7am) but conditions looked great, as i rounded the runway i thought i made a wrong turn into pitt street so i headed up to the cans to drift back past silver beach towards towra. After 3 hours of soaking baits and flicking SP's for a grand total of 1 VERY undersized red i headed over to the 16 footers club to pick up my neighbor who just finished work. we headed just outside the heads and drifted south for about 1k for a rock cod and a slimy. ok so the day isnt progressing to well and the has rung twice to ask if i have caught dinner yet, we decide to head back in do 1 last drift then head home with a wet arse and no fish. By this time the wind had kicked up a little and we drifted from the cans without any expectations , Then....... in a 20 minute dash we boated 5 lizards from 55cm to 70cm, 1 red 34cm and a nice ocky about half a kilo (that my neighbor dropped overboard AFTER he finished cleaning it). needless to say its a fish dinner after an ordinary day came good. had a few scotch and cokes before typing so sorry bout the length and any typo's

    Boat Name?

Hi all We have been trying to think up a name for our boat without much luck. there are 4 of us in the family ( myself, wife and 2 daughters ) so i liked the idea of calling her "FOUR PLAY ", a tripple play on words. "four" of us play on it its "for play" and you know how you feel after a day on it ..... totally r**ted (foreplay) the isnt all that impressed and would like other ideas anyone???
  21. i use paint shop pro for my photo editing, it's amazing what you can do to your pics with that. might have a go at producing a 2 mtr long lizard
  22. If you ever need to justify your $$$ spent on your hobby to the just head over to http://www.dragster.com.au/ and ask those guy's the same question. a mate of mine runs a supercharged outlaw and it costs him about $3000 to go racing for a weekend. if he wins the weekend thats about 24 seconds behind the wheel and prize money isnt worth mentioning as it barely covers fuel costs.
  23. i second flipping the heads inside out. on large ones i slide my hand up inside and just turn them, and use 2 fingers on the small ones.
  24. thats a hell of a fish, well done Joe if i ever get one like that it will be a good excuse to fire up the BBQ, call a few mates and have a few beers.
  25. slowly mate using the glass repair kit is tricky and messy on such small areas, i also got some gelcoat putty that was recomended by the shop to fill the smaller cracks and chips and to fill / color the glass repairs. color matching is real hard too so i'm practicing on the chips on the keel to get it right. the glass repairs do seem to be a stronger bond than the putty but the putty seems to hold up very well to a screwdriver after 24 hours drying. the putty says for repairs up to 50mm wide but i wouldnt use it on anything wider than 2 or 3 mm, but it does fill my dodgey glass job well thanks again for your help
