I’m looking for a new baitcaster rod for bass fishing. Looking for something in a 1 to 3 kg weight and 7 foot long but have not been able to find anything. Any suggestions. I’m hoping to be able to flick lighter lures than I can with my current 6 foot rod. I have a threadline setup for lighter lures but prefer a baitcaster.

I’m after a new baitcaster rod for casting light weight lures. Any suggestions welcome. I’m thinking I need something at least 6’6” and preferably in 1 to 3kg weight range. Most baitcasters seem to be in a much heavier weight range.

I mainly target bass and EPs with 10 lb braid line. Current alphas is great for heavier lures but difficult for lighter ones like small feralcats, beetle spins, Taylor made nuggets or similar. Is there anything smaller than the 150?

Thanks for the advice. Now I need to decide how much I want to spend. Am also thinking about the Bantam as it is made in Japan but is a couple of hundred more. Or am I better of getting a better threadline instead.

Interested in opinions about the SLX dc baitcaster. I mainly fish for bass in the Hawkesbury and am looking for something to cast lightweight lures. Thinking about the 150 size but don’t know if the dc is just a gimmick or not. I use a diawa alphas now which is OK but struggles on the lighter stuff. I generally use a egg beater for lighter lures but prefer the accuracy of the baitcaster. Wayne
